talented, yes...but one arrogant ******!

I don't mind him.
I watched him perform at the American Music Awards on Sunday(I think) and I thought he sounded really good. I liked the background too.
Although I hate all rap music, and anything around that genre...I can respect what he does. He's different.

His interview from Conan yesterday, he talks about the synths and vocoder at 7:00mints.

Posted by SPANIARD on Nov-26-2008 20:44:

He is slightly more talented than average in his trade and a picture perfect description of a guy who thinks his shit smells like roses. I really love how he includes his mom in all his speeches, like it's the all mighty shield that can protect against all and make up for all the arrogance. You gotta give it to his creativity though (like we haven't heard that people are poor, people are racist, people shoot people, people are real people, before) and I'm sure that's what makes him stick out from the bunch... and that he is the only one that has the balls to steal all the left over clothes from the set of all in the family and rock it out on the red carpet.

Yay for kanye!

Dave Grohl IS as important to Nirvana as Kirk.

Im aware it is not the same comparison, but for whatever reason I believe Kanye is an artist, and it is by coincidence not by design that his appeal crosses genres at this point. His music is not YET 'classic' or 'revolutionary'.

Now you have to admit that for someone who garners as much negative press for his arrogance and concietedness(sp?) he STILL receives critical acclaim after the most rediculous behaviour besides MJ having sleep overs with little kids.

Its not educated; I just spent alot of my youth listenning to Hip Hop. I realise you were being sarcastic.

I get what you are saying about "faith". It is clear that he can make music; he has a style, his flow is decent and interestingly he is NEVER exclaimed for his flow, rhymes - just his beats and his themes. Thats fine, that is his style. I dont care for it and yes that is my opinion.

I dont see him anywhere in the vicinity of Clapton or MJ; David Groll - yes. Groll has mastered the art of pleasurable pop rock that sits just above the trite nonsense of Nickleback and the like. But again Grolls music post Nirvana is better.

His conceitedness is AS I SEE IT, the progression of the "bling era" of rap music. It obvious, flashy and aims perpetuate an image.

Hip hop has for years crossed or simply sampled elements from litterally all generes of music; 50's/classical/movie soundtracks/metal - so I dont see how Kayne doing it, is any different. Hip hop at its core was always about a few simple things, sampling is a majour one.

At the end of the day I am only uninterested in his image, his music is fine. His image is obvious, tacky and has only gotten more and more irritating.

he is arguably one of the best hip hop producers of all time...i wouldn't call him slightly more talented than average....

I don't think it's necessary to roll your eyes at someone who's stating their opinion of him being slightly better than average. Especially when his post is praising Kanye for the most part.

Despite my minimal knowledge of hip-hop, I would say that considering its long legacy, it's still early in his career to say that he's one of the best hip hop producers of all time. Though he may be well on his way.

i have to say one thing abt this thread. STICK TO EDM!

sometimes its better to keep ur mouth shut and let everyone think ur an idiot then open it and confirm everyones beliefs.

Anyone who doesn't listen to hip hop should not be commenting in this thread. its like me going into a garth brooks thread and saying his latest cd is garbage, not knowing anything abt country music

Posted by zoogla on Nov-27-2008 05:29:

kanye's latest cd is garbage.

ps. i don't listen to hip hop or whatever they're calling it these days.

Posted by Special K on Nov-27-2008 11:33:

yea I think its garbage too

ps. I havent even heard the cd (or any of his cds for that matter)

*brap*

Posted by RapidFire on Nov-27-2008 11:43:

dont really give a shit about his attitude. im judging him based on his music alone and having said that, he made a pretty nice album. raw, a lot of 80s influence as the article suggests (the last track is pretty much 'Memories Fade' by Tears For Fears). i'll be listening to it for a while

Posted by Speakerhumper on Nov-27-2008 12:24:

Thought this was "Tranceaddict". Boo to Kanye.

Thats not fair. You don't need to listen to country to know its garbage...

Jks

Ahh, actually I didn't mean to say one good thing about him, I guess maybe sarcasm doesn't come across very well over the internet.

No, no see this is the thing, it's not country music, it's EDM. What the hell do you know about it and what do you know about what people know about hip hop in here? I've never seen you once write anything useful about any song, artist or genre. So aside from all your egotistical rants and your shitty c0r jokes, why don't you post something people want to read because when it comes to music, you're the least useful person on this forum.

Posted by Vivid Boy on Nov-27-2008 15:08:

I'd say lets do a hip hop trivia but you'd just use google.

but my question to you is what the fuck do you know about anything unedm related. The majority of this site call themselves music lovers but ask them where most of this music is influenced from and they wouldn't have a fuckin clue. Ask them anything music related that has nothing to do with edm and once again they don't have a fuckin clue and they don't want to have a clue. I'm not saying you directly, but the majority.

And you are talking about my contribution to this site?? Who are you even? It's funny when people say "you haven't contributed shit all to this site accept for jokes and laughter", meanwhile people keep coming back to read my posts for that exact reason. let me ask you what the fuck have you done? maybe a couple of reviews on a party? maybe made a Tiesto thread and posted YAY TIESTO IS SO GOOD HE KILLED IT WHEN HE PLAYED SO AND SO TRACK!! YAY!!

bud, I wouldn't go testing someones "contribution" to a site when his name is a household name around these parts and nobody would notice if you one day rolled over from ur comp screen and choked on a fuckin dorito.

Posted by SPANIARD on Nov-27-2008 15:24:

A household name? Fuck right off

I can't disagree with anything you have said.

and kanye is getting into the realm of edm which is why we are all talking about it.

Posted by Vivid Boy on Nov-27-2008 19:59:

I like the new album its got a cool 80's feel to it.

Kanye as a rapper and as a singer is blaa though.

I liked his first and second album when he would have cameos from good artists his last few albums hes put the worst artists ever on them. young jeezy lil wayne <--- people with no talent.

I agree, you'd think he has the power to get who he wants on his albums too...

Posted by LightsOut on Nov-28-2008 01:41:

Just actually listened to his new album on the way to work today...and to my surprise really liked it.

Its a lot different from his other albums, really raw and downtempo, with a ton of emphasis on the lyrical contect, and not just club bangers like his other works. Definatly worth checking out IMO.

Fav Song on it:
Kayne West f. Kid Kudi: Welcome to Heartbreak

Never EVER liked the band, even with they were ALL the rage at the end of public school [slash] all through high school.

Just never got them. Glad.
