About 45 minutes in and I'm really liking everything I hear. This has a very hypnotizing sound and atmosphere with all of the little perky melodies. The mixing is also butter. Solid stuff, I can't wait to hear what's coming.

Glad you're digging it - the mixing, as far as I'm concerned, is a bit off at times (there's definitely some "boots in the dryer" during the mix into Margie's Groove - among some EQ issues I wish I had done better on), but as I said earlier - I'm pleased with it in general, and it does really represent how I've played out live over the years.

Fuck me. You guys really have some shit openers up there ey?

I mean, we have our share of complete tards down here too, but at least for most of the parties I go to (thrown by droog or other friends) they know ho to set people up right or book people who are like-minded in this approach.

I haven't listened to this yet, and while it looks very yummy and interesting (you always have a few tunes I've been playing a lot mixed with a bunch of stuff I'm not familiar with), I tend to like playing much much deeper than this when opening. I probably wouldn't get into much of this stuff till after midnight if the headliner was playing later on.

Got to open a few good nights recently and I basically went through my entire music library, picked out a playlist of 20-30 tunes I'd like to hear when walking into a club and mingling, and burned them to discs.

Unfortunately I have not recorded any of those efforts, but I'm opening for LoSoul in SF in a few weeks so hopefully I can record that, especially since I'm playing the first slot.

120 bpm ftw

I will bop this on the ipod ASAP.

Lol, this starts at around 120 and ends at 128.

RE: Tunes being a bit much for opening hours - I think you've also got to take into account the kinds of nights/people you and I have played/opened with. I imagine a lot of the guys you play with would never even come close to playing as "hard" (in quotes because it made me laugh to even think of this as "hard") throughout an entire night - while the bulk of the nights I've opened have either been for folks who were going to play some more upbeat/banging tech house/techno, or full on trance kids, so I guess where I'm coming from here is that it's all about playing to your audience, and while this might not be appropriate for a lot of the nights you're talking about, I think for my style/what I do, it's a pretty reasonable set.

But then again, I'm really in no place to assess that myself

And one of the things I've absolutely loved over the years is the degree of overlap in records between our two bags, and yet how utterly and completely different the two of us sound as DJ's. Many times when I hear something in a set of yours that I've been playing, it's almost like hearing a totally different track - and to me, that is one of the coolest things about electronic music/DJ'ing, and the real hallmark of an entertaining DJ.

Hope you dig it bro.

Forgot to respond on this. Great stuff once again, carted a couple tracks off of here. I really liked the opening 4 tracks or so for some reason. Breathe also worked superbly as a closer, you seem to have a knack for picking appropriate tunes to end your sets. Really nice groovy stuff all the way through, thoroughly enjoyed.

I liked this a lot, few of the tunes in the middle I didn't care for so much, but the beggining was indeed as deep and slow as I like and the end was cool. Like how you dropped that Rozzo tune, just bought it too.

That edit of Breathe is a little weird btw lol

I dunno, just didn't like it as much as the regular version.

Yeah, the acid nonsense in the extended version might turn some folks off, but to be totally honest I used it for the edit because it was longer and I wanted to keep it in my bag for a bit - original is far too short, and felt like I wouldn't be able to play it as often.

Also, almost all of the percussion is from Samuel Lawrence. *the more you know*

Edit: Also, re: the middle bit - yeah, it really trances the fuck out there for a while, innit?

If you rail enough of it your face will probably still go numb.

I gave a listen this morning, and i enjoyed it. I've been listening to more and more of this style of stuff, and this was chillin as hell for the wake and bake this morning. I will listen again and pay a little more attention to detail soon

Cheers, Jay!

Fun fact: This is the first set I've put up, maybe ever, that was recorded while 100% sober.

Fun fact: Good luck with that

For the most part it's over already

Though it's definitely been almost a couple of months since I smoked or really anything else other than alcohol.

Some day there will be a comeback, I'm just picking my spots.

Edit: Also, I didn't see this made Proton's Top 100 Mixes until now, but booyah - 76.

Ok... not so impressive, lol, but I'm just going to tell myself that isn't where it peaked.

took a good listen to this one today at work, i know i'm a little late.

first, technically was really good. all of the mixes worked well. One thing I did kind of feel though especially in the beginning was almost too much blending and smoothness. I just kind of felt myself wandering a bit if that makes sense, but then again I know that is probably kind of what you were going for. I thought the set really started to pick up around 9-10-11. Agree with Clovis that some of the tracks weren't really my taste, but fuck it...you got to play what you like. If you can get two tracks to work together that's really all that matters. good stuff Rob.

Didn't see this before, but cheers Jason - it's funny you mention it getting going around 9 minutes, because that's when "Margie's Groove" mixed in, and it's one of the mixes where I really feel like I fucked up a bit but let it slide. I also thought the first mix might be a bit off, so I'm glad to see it went so smoothly, albeit perhaps boring for you

I just really, really wanted to open a set with "Beginn", and was so glad to fit "Soon" in there as well. And it definitely was just me playing what I like, so glad to see that at least comes through even if we're not all always on the same page.

Thanks again
