I'll still go out to clubs once in a while, but after 7 years, I think I've had enough. I go out mostly just to see friends.

Mid 90s, I saw Ferry Corsten, Anthony Pappa, Deelite, etc...

No disrespect but I cant picture just 'having enough' at your age; I suspect you are way younger than myself and others who have posted on this thread. If you feel the beats and you groove to the music and feel it deep inside, how can you out grow out of it? Music transcends age. I can pop a house CD on my way to work 100% sober and bob my head and pump my fists all the way to the office. That feeling translates into the party scene. It has nothing to do with picking up on chicks and being the perpetual club goer, its about the music.

I'm 24 and have been listening to EDM since I was in high school (14-15 yo). I think the first mix that really changed my thinking about music was Oakenfold - Tranceport. I had really no idea that there were different genres back then, it was all techno to me. Thanks to Napster my love for EDM grew and evolved. My first time at a club, Ruby Skye, I saw Ferry Corsten, I had no idea what to do with myself so I stood against the bar the entire time throwing fist pumps, not getting into the crowd once. After that night, it turned into me coming down to SF a few times a year to see the big shows, then eventually turned into me coming down every other weekend which turned into me moving to SF. I still love trance but my tastes have been broadening the past couple years into all of the amazing sounds and artists that EDM has to offer.

Ive been smoking weed since I was 12. Drank my first beer at age 8.

LOL Funny you should say, I was going to mention that I was not talking about the Robbie Rivera remix of Push the feeling on or any other remix of that song for that matter. There is nothing like the original and any other attempt to remake that song is trash.
You just dont mess with an anthem.

I'm 24 and I've been in the scene march 2007 ...I discovered edm that same night in march and it changed me forever. I started with psy trance bc of ish =P then I learned to love it all!!

Now 33, been listening to house since early 90s. but this jump started it all in '96...

24 years old. Kinda funny, but I'm from a small suburb that had a lil wanna be rave scene sweep through it in 2001 and 2002. I caught the very end of it in 2002 and unfortunatly picked up my first EDM CD "Best of Trance Vol 3" with some Lasgo, DJ Sammy, Foggy, etc...

Got out of the scene for about 6 months (sober up time ) then got back in to it heavily listening to Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, and Ferry Corsten. Started hitting the rave scene all the time and hit up every Insomniac and Go Ventures massive every year. Started DJing in late 2006 after I started hitting up the club scene when Spundae was rockin it at Circus!!!

I've been in the Seattle scene since I was 21.
I was 17 when I first discovered EDM, I watched 'Swordfish' w/ John Travolta, Hugh Jackman & Halle Berry. Paul Oakenfold did the soundtrack and I just kind of fell in love with the sound.

That's a great soundtrack. The Saint soundtrack was a big one for me as well.

I'm 26, went to my first rave when i was 15 and my first club when i was 16 (Ole Madrid in SD..shhhh)

I was first was exposed to electronic music when I was 8 years old in '90 when my cousin from Mexico City gave me 2 tapes (1 was a RED happy hardcore tape, the other was some blue deep house tape on one side and some Jungle on the other)...it was over from then.

Started learning to dj when i was 16-17... went to the bay area for college where I raved it non stop all while meeting awesome peeps along the way in SF while I went to school in Santa Cruz... (Alain + more)

Moved back to SD... and have continued dj'ing in socal and workin with some of the greatest that I could have only dreamt of when I was just getting into this.

First started clubbing when I was 18 at Club Heaven. Started sneaking into Avalon when I was 19.

i first started clubbing last year....im 24 now.
ive only been to a few clubs in SF. Rubyskye, Endup, 1015, Temple. and thats it. Its all still new to me.

I still love the music (and will listen to it at home, in the car, at work, etc...) I meant I'm done with the scene... as in done with going to clubs where 95% of the people are cracked out on god knows what drugs. I don't do drugs when I go out, but it's so unmotivitaing to see people like that every single time I go out.

After 7 years of going out EVERY weekend, I'm kinda getting over it. I want to do other things, see what else is out there in this world, be around people who have more to talk about then how sick this or that dj was, and how they want to go to Ibiza or WMC next year, and how good the K was that they just did.

Fuck it's all a blur, but I'll give it a shot.

I guess for me it all started with mainstream shit that would get radio play on pop stations when I was a little kid. Then I got the Mortal Kombat soundtrack - that's right, I went there! Got into NIN and other industrial stuff.

I used to go to Florida every summer to visit my cousins, who introduced me to RITM and a lot of Florida breaks and shit like Lords of Acid. But it all really sunk in when one of my cousins gave me a Sasha live mix on a CD that said Sasha - Intenze '99. That shit was awesome! My cousin and I listened to that mix the first time I ever rolled. Haha oh man.

I went out and bought Sasha's Ibiza GU and started listening to a lot of trance. My sister found Tranceport in a 5 dollar CD bin at some store and bought it because her friend said it was good, but she hated it, so I stole it.

Started DJing when I was 17 or 18 I guess, with handmedown DnB records and tables that a buddy's older brother gave him. Befriended some progressive house heads and absolutely loved the shit so I started buying prog. records. Started going to parties, etc, etc.

But I guess I don't really feel like I'm very much in the scene any more. I try to keep up with what's coming out lately, and still listen to a lot of electronica, but I very rarely go out clubbing at this point. I'll still try to make it out to see my favorite DJs and producers, though.

miss julia, i feel the same as you.. but listening to music in the car, or house work is not the same. You lack the Bass and the loudness that the music should be played at...

Its just something you can't duplicate at home unless you have some huge huge subs, 15" mids and horn tweets and blasting that music in your house without having you neighbors call the cops on you for disturbing the piece. Even though, they themselves disturb the piece by listening to them yell at each other while they are fighting just because the husband didnt put the toilet seat down...

27 now. grew up in poland up to age 7, moved to SF, and then would go back to visit family every couple summers, where i would be surrounded by eurodance kind of stuff, not yet appreciating all the other genres at age 10-12.

here in the US, the most i could find on my own on the radio was freestyle, electro, and old afrika bambatta kind of beats (i would listen more to hip hop stations rather than rock).

then summer vacation in europe at age 14 (around 1995), it all came together! i discovered so many sub-genres of edm and loved them all, especially the stuff coming out of berlin. it was all so different and refreshing than the "rave music" that i had heard back in the US.

then finally i found a source for some of this in the US with wild 107's "nocturnal transmissions/house nation" and live 105's "subsonic" (i'd get up at midnight to tape record them; i still have some of the tapes). but it was difficult finding any friends my age into the stuff.

a couple summers later, went clubbing and partying in europe at age 16 and and came back to US to discover the rave scene which i just didn't care for. went a few times, and still totally kept up with the music, but mostly waited around to hit age 18 and 21...
