but i think you can compare it to the idea that fat chicks work harder in bed
it takes more effort for them to move? I don't get it

Its a bit wierd when you consider that Deadmau5' trademark is the eighth notes patch, which is so simple to make. Why wouldn't he just release that one patch, he doesn't really have any other sounds of note...

Less is often more when it comes to samples.

keep in mind there are a lot of people out there just getting into the scene that arnt as equipped like many people on this board.

im just sayin, the target audience isnt necessarily well informed individuals. ( who are probably in the minority?)

so basically, deadmau5 is smart to utilize his name (which to the unsuspecting consumer is the most familiar) to sell product to nubs.

did anybody buy this pack?

Posted by Acton on Jan-12-2009 18:03:

I have got a sample pack of this sample pack, the samples are pretty good to be honest. But I'm not going to pay for the full pack though as I think it is stupidly expensive for what it is.

They have just stuck that price tag on as it's Deadmau5 who has done the samples, and all the kids who want to be Deadmau5 will buy it. I mean, surely Joel didn't charge a silly amount to compile them.

I`d be interested in the percussions sounds in this for sure.

I have a sample from Future Music, and honestly it's very similar to vengeance - if you have any of those packs you are not missing out really.

That episode was hilarious. However, you apparently need a certain "brand" of turd to make it work. So if your turd is really, really solid, then, yes, you can polish it. Otherwise, it'll just fall apart.

Funny how that actually does relate to music and production in a way.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jan-13-2009 08:49:

Sure enough, but it'll still be a turd.

I think its got some great noises and is on my list for the future, but yes obviously if you've got a load of packs then there might be old ground covered.

Posted by JOE-SCULLY on Jan-20-2009 03:39:

got my sample pack today..most of them are in 32 bit float so ive to go and transfer them all back to 24bit float..they wont work in logic...pain in the arse but how and ever....cant wait get stuck in...the kicks sounds are savage!!

Posted by MOK on Jan-20-2009 04:35:

lol nice adjective

Posted by diamondza on Jan-20-2009 09:42:

Fine sounds, I still prefer the Vengeance series............

Nice job from Duda & Mau5 anyhow.

why is everyone against deadmau5???
is it because the whole fl loop fiasco? that kid deserved to get sued, all he did to the song faxing berlin was add an extra five note melody on top of it and then sell it on itunes... how would you feel if someone took one of your tracks and just added one sound on top of it and made it look as if it was his... anyhow, they didnt even sue the kid,, the media made it look like a bigger deal than it really was...

As for the sample cd, i think its worth the money. all other cds out there that ive seen range from 80 all the way to 120 dollars,, including the vengeance cds. Besides, joel is a prettydamn good engineer... just listen to his productions, his basses, his kicks they're sick! everything sounds so clear and sharp.
In the past few years, ive seen something like a "downfall" in electronic music in all genres,, where everyone sounds the same.. you can hear the same sounds over and over again, just different producers and different melodies. When deadmau5 came out, it was like a breeze of fresh air,, my ears were alive again. thats why i think its worth the money, the sound is just different(to me at least).

Put your cat in a blender and you get that different sound.

the idea was that this guy had no idea of faxing berlin's existence, and used the loops with such a mindset. i'm in no way saying that's an admirable way to make music, but deadmau5's subsequent reaction to this mistake from this novice producer was pathetic.

I do really rate him as a producer and some of his techy stuff is absolute quality but at the same time there is only so many times he can 'react wrongly' before it just shows everyone what you are really like.

Back on topic, I went through the 25mb sample version and there were some quality sounds in here.

If you have a billion samples already you likely don't care, but if you want to expand your library this seems like it's probably a good purchase.

Link to the sample version. I couldn't find it and don't want to bother with looking to hard.
