I think the hardest part is when you see them out in public with new boyfriend and the new boyfriend refuses to shake your hand. Then it is revenge sex time.
That's also a tip for the rest of you. If you see your girl's ex out in public be nice to him. He probably still knows how to get into her pants.
echos: did you see this coming? was it like a downfall that you ultimately finally said, "enough of this crap, this sucks" or was it a surprise? if it was a downfall, then it would be easier to "get over" than a surprise.
just hang out w/ your bros (since you ditched them for your hoe) and drink some beer and watch TV.
or get a dog, you know, whatever will take your mind off things.
otherwise, you're just going thru any normal breakup that millions of people go through anyway; so you're not special and you're not feeling anything that lots of people haven't felt before anyways. GET OVER IT!

Originally posted by Lira You know, not long before I entered university, there was this girl I fancied who had just broken up with her boyfriend. She was a nice girl, emotionally confused, and hotter than a barbecue in a Finnish sauna. She knew I liked her too, and when she broke up with her boyfriend, she came to the conclusion that I was the one. It was probably one of the most amazing things ever, in my life: I was at home, playing the piano, when suddenly this girl (who happened to be a friend of my sister's, in case you're wondering how she got in) jumped on me and womanhandled me right there, on the living room. We didn't do anything immoral that day. Had not my sister cockblocked us later, I think a proper relationship would've kicked off from that point

I went through a very similar breakup at the start of the year. Not really 'clean' as we dated a bit after, hooked up, etc. Fucking hard with so many shared friends etc.
Protip for getting past it is that the hurt and pain will fade in time, but don't bother rushing it or even believing me when I say that.
Instead, pick a few things you've wanted to do and do them for no other motivation that you've got nothing better to do. Nothing wrong with being miserable while you're exercising, or saving money, or getting a better job, or new friends.
(the part you ignore cause of the pain etc) is that it does get better and you'll be back to awesomeness eventually. Took me about a year, which fucking surprised me because I'm pretty good with overcoming psychological problems. That said, I've got a new job, new house and new friends, just need a new girl.
Gotta have your cake before they can eat it though, and chicks dig cake.

Originally posted by echosystm So, My girlfriend and I broke up not yesterday, but the night before (so ~36 hours ago). When we broke up, there was obviously alot of tears and so forth. I went to sleep and woke up... All yesterday and today, I haven't really been upset about it at all. I still love her and want her back, but I pretty certain we've done the right thing and I am somehow not upset at all over it. Am I in some kind of denial or shock? In a few days am I gonna be in the dumps, or is the grieving over now? Soz for lame relationship thread, I've just never been through a breakup with someone I loved this much. Also, any advice on getting over a breakup? I figure to just stay busy... I'm making sure I go out every night this week.

Originally posted by Slylee you might be in denial. it's hard to tell though but my last bad breakup was like that. i was a "little upset" at first and just went about my business and told myself i accepted it...and then a week later i cried for 2 days and barely got out of bed lol it was like a little delayed reaction. but yea...the usual stay busy, call up some friends, join the gym (my personal favorite post breakup addiction), and last but not least...allow yourself to grieve. it's ok to cry like a bitch and be really down for a few days. they say any relationship that makes the year mark takes about a year (give or take) to TRULY get over it. good luck
so you broke up 2 times but in your original post say you want to get back together. This leads me to think you been dumped.
so
you don't really want her back.
you don't need her to be happy.
you broke up twice because it was time for it to end, there will not be a chance at strike 3.
these are the 3 things you need to say to yourself.
get over the rebound thing...it is not about enjoying the sex, it is about getting back on the horse and getting some excitement to get your mind off things. There is nothing more exciting than new vag.
also do not listen to tubular...or else you will find yourself making documentaries for message boards while getting drunk alone and dressing up your dog in people clothes.
btw...the hardest time is not measured in days and hours, it just kind of happens when you truly feel alone for the first time. It sucks, but tell yourself it is temporary.
