Thanks for the J00F recommendation, pwnage1. Suggestions like that ensure that I will be spending entirely too much time tracking down trance sets and not enough time studying/figuring out how I'm going to stay off food stamps once I graduate. That's cool your from T-town--stay away from Hilltop with the trance beats if you don't want to get gunned down.

The youtube example is bleepy prog trance with a slightly more driving bassline. Kind I like, but I think playing it at parties is risky.

Also, there are no "drumroll" buildups in that tune, but gosh, there are two fairly long 'pauses'

That's actually a pretty decent tune, IMO.

trance is very spirtual for me, and its something that i can only listen to in the privacy of my own house, i mean i turn on asot close my eyes and i just get lost in the music, i eventually open my eyes and i cannot remember why or where i am, and for that 5 to 10 seconds im in heaven.

What he said was probably the only thing that was really worthy in this thread, rest is just a waste of space.

I remember that era of Schutz very well, Fusing Love is a sick tune though, I've had that one for awhile now. 3:30 - 4:10 wicked.

Unfortunate a thread with such potential got turned into a pile of trash, the post quality on TA is severely lacking outside of regional / dj / production.

While we're on the topic, anyone got some suggestions for tracks that have this kind of "warm" proggy sound to them besides recommending all of Schulz from the early to mid 2000s?

I can't remember a problem in my life that trance wasn't able to help me out of. Depression, anxiety, the loss of my grandfather, the Cold War, 7 consecutive life sentences, being abducted by aliens.

I finally found the track I was thinking of when listening to Kobbe & Austin Leeds - Fusing Love around 3:40 :

It doesn't have such a low bassline, but from 4:30 it sounds a bit similar imo. I love the build up in the beginning and the moment the bass starts at 2:23.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are many "hey, remember when Schulz was, like, actually good?" people on these boards. He's always been flamed for "McProg". I only recently came to the conclusion that he's not good for my tastes anymore. But the GDJBs from back around 2003... man!
