The worst as you said Mortyman is when you invite a whole bunch of people and some dj asswhole is like..
"cant make it man, im busy spinning at "club name" at "time slot" at "date" its gonna be crazy!!!" self promotion stupidness, so to answer your question its looked down upon.

I hate it the most when random promoters that have not only added me with no pretense but wouldn't make any effort to introduce themselves advertise on my personal wall with their shit, or on one of my "specific purpose" groups

sorry

Now now, it would be rude to name names.

Posted by nusty on Dec-17-2008 18:31:

josh, andrew, simon, jeff, chris, blake, dave, bethany, ashley, christine, ruth, michelle.....

I'm rude like that.

these names have nothing to do with this thread or if they do it is pure coinsidence since I personally also do not know the name of the person they speak of... actually I just wanted to feel cool and post something here. Its been a long time since I posted and I felt left out. I hope this makes me relevent again. *oh god, how I hope....... tear.

i just fount these on the page for the Industry reunion...lol...and they were both at the top....

I just disable wall before I create an event.

Really, when I create an event it is to bring awareness of the party to people. That's what it is.

So many people these days depend on facebook to promote. It's not like it's an actual guide to how busy a night is going to be...there are too many variables...

Posted by InfiniteEclipse on Dec-17-2008 20:54:

I don't know what you guys are going on about, but I'm spinning at Guv tomorrow so....

Posted by jon jon on Dec-17-2008 20:59:

I'm actually convinced that a LOT of people just type a response thinking it only goes to the sender of said invite... not actually realizing that it gets posted on the event wall...

they should block TA at your work ha ha

Posted by StereoPrincess on Dec-17-2008 21:12:

i agree with jon. people just think it goes to the inviter. i used to think that.

i find it funny that people are upset about people promoting on their events when they themselves are promoting to the masses by sending out the invite. irony!

Posted by Takayuki on Dec-17-2008 21:58:

FUCK FACEBOOK!

Pardon me... just had to get that out.

You know when you get an invite for an event, and someone can't go, and they KNOW they can't go, so that person will say they are not attending the night, but also adding a comment on the wall saying
"Sorry, but I'm spinning at "such & such" a place the same night"...

Do you think there's some sorta tolerance for it, is it accepted, or do you think it really pisses people off?

Is it good or bad self-promotion?

Personally I'm a bit impartial to the whole idea of it. I don't do it, but my friends do, and I've never really bothered to know what people think about it either.

I find that on the event wall very few say "Sorry, but I'm spinning at "such & such" a place the same night"...

It's more likely that they just say "Oh hon, I'd LOVE to go but I'm, umm, in South Africa" or something.

The "I'm spinning at such and such a place" is shameless self promotion BS and it looks to me like they're just crapping on the event. It comes across as douche-baggy.
