actually from what i understand they have a program that randomly selects the section of the track.

I too would like to be able to quickly skip through an entire track on beatport. There have been plenty of tracks of bought because they sounded good, only to find out everything outside of the clip was shit. I`ve also seen DOPE tracks on the site not sell because the part of the tune in the sample was a breakdown. Though that works out okay when I end up being the only person in town that`s playing it.

really eh? i figured all the samples were always well picked... ie a couple bars before the breakdown, the entire breakdown and a few bars after the drop... must be a smart program then

Thats because half the trax (an i use the term lightly) suck ass to begin with. They publish any crap. They need to set the standard way higher.

+1 to skip through the whole track. And bump up the quality.

Oh well lucky there are other sites out there that aleady have these features.

Dj Download avg. track = $1.52 to $1.73 USD
Beatport avg track = $1.99 to $2.49 USD

not much of a difference, but an extra 3-6 songs plus free credits every $20 yopu spend sounds better to me.

Posted by Inrush on Jan-22-2009 19:31:

not just you

Why do they try and make a better site but always leave out how fast it will run
it looks better and there are a few more addons... But I would take speed of the site over those things any day!

Chat with a beatport helper.

Tina: Hi, my name is Tina. How may I help you?
ben groothuis: is the new beatport always going to be this slow?
Tina: We are working out the kinks. We apologize for the inconvenience.
ben groothuis: so you guys know about how slow it is?
Tina: It is not slow for every one at the moment, but we are aware.
ben groothuis: ok good. when do you think it will be fixed?
Tina: I do not have a time frame. We just launched a few hours ago.
Tina: Please feel free to contact us again if you have any additional questions or concerns.

guess its just some areas that are affected.

I really do hate browsing by genre, such a waste of time.

They have one... its a sub-genre of house

What I meant was their tribal section should be it's own genre like electro or minimal with a top 100/featured releases etc.

i think there player still has some bugs to iron out, and can someone tell me how to add an artist or label to my favorites i can find that anywhere on the new site

I dont think tribal as a whole has enough releases to support the structure of being their own genre... But I always thought it would be good to seperate it from house.

+ 1,000,000

is there anyway you can search all tracks, regardless of genre?

(nevermind.... found out.... select all in advanced search)

imo this version sucks balls.

Agreed, a lot of tribal comes out in the prog sections which I don't hit daily as I do all others.

I found it really slow on my PC laptop (wireless), to the point where I was PISSED. I then tried my Mac (ethernet) and it was just as fast as before?

I love being able to put tracks into the hold bin now, I used to have several different accounts with tracks. I would then have to go through them and pick the ones I wanted for that weekend or whatever, and reselect them again in the account I was going to buy with. Took a lot of time...

lol.

you know you could just change your download preference right?
it would either be "instand download" or "crate"
"instant download" would download it right away when you hit "buy"....it's set to "crate" by default and stores the songs in your crate.

just put all your songs in your crate, then when you want to buy certain songs, just change the download preferance to "instand download".

then listen to it from your crate...when the track appears in the audio player at the top, just click on the "buy" button.

much easier than having multiple accounts.
