Clearly the words of someone about as unfamiliar with Villalobos as anyone can be.

Needless to say, "minimal" is hardly how I'd describe his sets.

Posted by apple country on Dec-30-2008 16:49:

it wasn't in relation to Villalobos as much as it was to the genre.

Posted by RJT on Dec-30-2008 16:51:

Ah, so just a random outburst unrelated to the thread in any way then?

Posted by apple country on Dec-30-2008 17:24:

no, there was discussion of minimal, or at least mention of it.

Wrong.

Imagine he gets booked for Bonnaroo....That would be something

That would be enough to get me back to Bonnaroo.

His Firenze mix from may this year is fucking awesome. House at its best

how so?

- true I don't know much about Ricardo, but from what I've heard [livesets/tracks] I don't care about him.

- my comments, as previously stated, were more open to the genre of minimal.

I see no pwnage.

Posted by DCgirly on Dec-30-2008 20:54:

Can anyone recommend any good Villalobos sets?

Unless you heard he shags dead puppies I don't see how you can form a valid opinion on someone without, in your own words, knowing much about him.

Posted by nefardec on Dec-30-2008 21:03:

villalobos' stance has little to do with a personal vendetta against the bush administration.

his stance is a result of foreign policy and immigration policy related to his family's flight from chile.

as such, I don't think we're going to see ricardo playing here anytime soon. I know of several deejays who refuse to come because they are hassled upon entering. (efdemin is one)

Posted by elFreak on Dec-30-2008 21:25:

efdemin also comes to montreal.

canada 2 , usa 0

us customs is really a bunch of bullshit, and you always get harassed by these high school drop lout hicks that they hire...what a great way to welcome people to the country.

adam he has played in the us before.

Posted by enydo on Dec-30-2008 21:26:

That sucks.

Minimal is hip where you live? I've traveled all over the US to listen to good music and by and large minimal techno and offshoots thereof are confined to the fringes of dance music scenes. Besides that, no one even really DJs minimal anymore, or at least, those who do are not the hot items on the circuit right now.

Why I just wasted my time with you I have no idea.

Posted by elFreak on Dec-30-2008 21:54:

no use arguing with people who have no clue what they are talking about clovis.

just throw him a unicorn and walk away.

Posted by apple country on Dec-30-2008 21:55:

Not sure about anything Minimal being big around here, but its all I ever hear about from everywhere else.

sorry, let me correct my original post.

I've heard him via live sets / tracks. The opinion wasn't based on other people's opinions.

Posted by Clovis on Dec-30-2008 21:58:

You ask anyone who has seen him if an opinion of the man can be formed via "livesets/tracks" and they'll usually laugh in your face.

Posted by thechronic on Dec-30-2008 21:58:

I'm pretty sure we will see him in Detroit sometime in 2009.

Posted by jupiterone on Dec-30-2008 21:59:

whenever i listen to 'minimal' these days it makes me want to blast my brains out

shuffling congas

Ricardo would be a treat in the States.

Posted by Blake_Jarrell on Dec-30-2008 23:42:

I think it would be awesome for him to play in the USA because then people like clovis that voted for him in the RA top 100 could finally see him live for the first time.

Actually I didn't vote in the top DJ poll.

Because traveling outside the country and seeing him never ever happens.
