Behold, my arse.

<3 at the Roaches and <3 @ Lawler spinning with Val C fucking sick way to enter zone

Posted by kotsy on Jan-04-2009 04:34:

I was planning on arriving at 6am but I got more drunk at my NYE party than originally planned. Ended up passing out 4 and waking up at 8am. "OMG I gotta get to Zone!"

I arrived around 9 to catch the last bit of M&S. Some good tunes to start off my day at CZ. It was at this point I learned that Lawler had played with The Junkies at 6am. Are you fucking kidding me?!?! I missed Steve Lawler at CZ because I got too drunk. Damn you beer!! Roaches were on after and they did not disappoint - no surprise there. I managed to pull myself away to catch some of Jon Jon's set. Although it was nice to be out of the heat (which was nowhere close to sauna that was downstairs last NYD), I had to get back to the cave. MO's set was... disappointing. He dropped some really sick tracks but for the most part it was mediocre non-zone music. It was pretty sweet to see MO still rockin' the vinyl. The lowlight was when he played a remix of Show Me Love. I hate this song and all of it's remixes. I thought CZ would be the one place I could permanently escape from it.. apparently not During the set I escaped upstairs again to see Cam Maxwell. This guy hasn't disappointed me yet. A class act all the way as well.

- INSERT 2 HOUR LUNCH BREAK AT MY HOUSE -

When I arrived back Carlos was already well into his set.. and he was absolutely destroying. He had the entire dance floor by the balls. I try to wear earplugs every time I go out to clubs but I rarely do at CZ because it would be a sin. I swear my ears came at least 5 times over the course of his set. I will DEFINITELY be checking out this guy again. Deko-ze was up next and my god did his set ever fit so perfectly after Carlos. Each time I see Deko-ze I'm even more impressed. God bless his weekly residency.Don't ever leave us!! Adultnapper followed with a good set as well. Although I wasn't feeling it as much as Carlos & Deko-ze.

- INSERT 2 HOUR DINNER BREAK AT MY HOUSE -

Jay Force was on when I returned and was dropping some filthy electro. I haven't seen much of Jay but he seems to deliver the times I do see him. YM proceeded to close down the joint after wards. I was running on low energy so I didn't get to dance as much as I wanted to. I can't get enough of Ace's energy, enthusiasm and interaction with the crowd. These guys are going to do really well for themselves.

All in all a great day at Zone. I was so relieved that it wasn't as busy as last year which made it bearable to be downstairs. How about CZ selling t-shirts, towels and food now?? I know I'll end up buying a t-shirt a some point. The sign for the cops near the front was an amusing read. Always a pleasure hanging out with TAs and it was nice meeting Knox, Cribby & feedurhead86. Hope to party with you guys again soon.

edit: I agree with Knox that CZ stiffed us by not giving us nice bracelets with the I <3 CZ logo on it! What's with this plain blue crap?!

My God...

I never....EVER....thought I'd see the day where that little Mac logo was staring out onto the dance floor at the Zone...

But I bet that the powers that be are really proud...

What a fuckin joke...

The first 15 minutes of his set were good...but then we had to leave. I was expecting more a driving dark sound...but got crunchy rocker sound instead. I was not very impressed.

Still trying to conjur up more of a review for the rest of the day.

So far....

is all I've come up with....

How did Lawler play? how long did he play?

Lawler at Zone is the one party I said I would never miss but considering it was on NY day and Im always in Montreal for work on NY day I had no choice! + I dont think he gave any noticE!

Carlo and Nathan ripped it up from 930-11. Loved every second of their set. I have not heard the two of them play together since the summer time and it was pure treat. Too bad Oliver knocked down the mood for me after that.....

Jon's opening set upstairs was such a great motivator to get the party started when we got there. Full on beat build up and beat! Pure energy Jon. Loved it. Made me enjoy the Silver Dollar.

The vibe was so different on New Years day then any time Ive ever been there. You could see the heightened security staff. I felt so much safer than Ive felt there before. Even before everything happened I was starting to not feel comfortable in my surroundings at the Zone.

Kudos.
