Download Reaper, and use that to rewire reason to it, when/if in need of using audio tracks.
Propellerheads will never give us those tools, because they dont want Reason to be
"an inferior Cubase".

I can't in my wildest dreams understand why people are so narrowminded today?

Reason has it's limits, cubase has it's flaws, logic isn't perfect, Sonar is great nowdays but not perfect and on and on and so forth and so on...

if you can achieve the sound you're aiming for with a sequencer then by all means...use that sequencer! But why paint yourself into a corner by saying "I will only use this one sequencer for the rest of my life"?

Focus on what's really important instead, your own creativity!

Theres no way you can be entirely original with Reason due to it being a closed program.

edit: IMO, thats why i havent bought it

with that argument you basicly have to invent your own synth if you want to be original today?

I mean others use nexus, sylenth1, v-station, access virus etc etc.

Reason is a package with synths that generate waveforms, just like any other synth.

Entirely original? What do you mean? To be entirely original you would need to create your own synths (using a new synthesis method) make all your sounds including drums create your own effects, scales, time signature, a tempo no song has ever been made in 1,000,000,000,000 bpm maybe?

Only an idiot would be entirely original, i am betting you use sample packs for your percussion.

can u be "entirely" original with ableton, cubase or logic? id like to see it.

Posted by music2dance2 on Jan-04-2009 21:44:

Can some post as link i cant see the video

Posted by Sonic_c on Jan-05-2009 03:23:

If you actually think about what is in reason you start to see that is is pretty good.

imagine if the nnxt or redrum were available as vsts or thor for that matter I would probably have them in cubase......wait thats the point right if reasons bits were vsts I would put them in cubase .... LOL i accidently contradicted myself

Cubase + VST's Is pretty powerfull i think compared with reason

Just rewire.

Its the age old arguement, "use this, use that" "thats much better than using blah blah blah".

No one program is the golden ticket just use what you find comfortable and gives you the results you need. Everything has its pro's and cons.

Posted by glsmaster on Jan-05-2009 05:19:

"" This video is private. ""

Can't see the video of what all of you are talking about.

Posted by music2dance2 on Jan-05-2009 09:58:

I think its been changed by the artist. shame cos I'm intrigued in his work with reason as I use reason myself

Posted by Lucidity on Jan-05-2009 12:45:

They prolly took it down because of all the people talkin crap. Personally I thought the video didn't really prove much at all but, it was still interesting none the less. I use Ableton Live but, I used to be a Reason user, I like it alot, its just not my style, thats all.

I'm not a Reason user and feel completely indiffererent towards the program, but this is a pretty silly thing to say. I find it akin to saying it'd be impossible to compose an original piece for the violin or piano because it's an instrument used by others.

Anyways, use Ableton IMO =P

Could you elaborate?

Posted by LfmC on Jan-05-2009 18:56:

REASON SUCKS!
and so does cubase, logic, live, sonar and fruity..

The best program is winamp. I've heard some of the best production come out of that thing

But seriously, I loved reason once.. then I learned fruity. So I loved fruity.. then I bought my first hardware synth... so I switched to cubase. Then I started performing live... so I got Ableton live... And now.. I use cubase for production and live for.. well... live.
And it works for me.
One DAW I could never figure out is sonar, though.. and I'd like to switch. But so far it's been a workflow killer for me.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Jan-05-2009 19:33:

why would u want to switch from cubase to sonar? dont they do exaclty the same only sonar is even more dificult?

Posted by dainja on Jan-05-2009 19:46:

Propellerheads should release Thor, Redrum, etc. as VSTs

They could charge more than they charge for Reason and everyone would still buy them...

I know you can ReWire into Cubase but I've never bothered to try. Cubase does everything I need.
