The most intense game was Russia vs Canada.

I'm guessing you missed the Cananda vs. US game then....it's been called one of the best Jr. games and even one of the most thrilling international games ever...i had about 15-16 people at my house watching it.soooo intense.

Most of the Jr tourny are blow out games, but it's still awesome hockey to watch and great seeing the up and coming stars. A couple of us went to the exibition game in Hamilton too. Those kids have more talent than most AHL players lol.

The tv was glued to the tournament in my house. I had a blast watching the gold medal game with my 13 year old sister. We were cheering like we had family on the team.

Yes...there are very few powerhouse countries when it comes to hockey.....at any given Jr. tournament there will be maybe 4 teams that are true contenders. Canada was 5.4 seconds away from not even going to the Gold Medal Game. The US, who was suppose to be another top contender, finished 5th.

The tournament should be changed to only 8 teams with a pretournament of the B Teams to determine which two teams go to the tournament.

I am SO PROUD that Hockey Canada produces the best players of a GAME that only 2 other countries in the world give a shit about. I don't know where my life would be if a bunch of guys I never met in my life didn't keep being very good at that game. I hope they continue to fill the empty void in my soul that can only be filled by players, from the same country that I live in, continuing to be very good at hockey.

This isn't the Olympics dude, where we actually have some major competition due to the fact that all the Euros have played in the NHL under Canadian coaches, against the best players, so they've been able to catch up in skill. The juniors are a cake-walk for a bunch of Canadian teenagers who only lose when they have a bad game. Am I happy for them? Sure, but there's nothing for ME, personally, to be proud of or excited about.

It would mean something if hockey was a sport that ANY kid could play with minimal investment, like soccer or basketball. But it's not. It's a sport for rich kids dominated by 2 countries, and thus has a smaller talent-pool than cheaper sports to play. That smaller talent-pool results in much more lopsided competition. Do you think Canada would be so dominate if MILLIONS of people around the world were able to play? Not bloody likely. If hockey were a cheaper sport, Canada would be mediocre like our teams are at everything else. Until hockey becomes a more popular sport, I feel no pride in our teams winning anything but the highest level of competition in the sport. And that's Olympics, and the Stanley Cup.

You are forgetting that many of the European players come to Canada and play in the Canadian Junior Hockey Leagues. When it comes to the skilled parts of the game, most europeans are better then Canadians. Many of the Europeans are also playing in elite leagues against older competition and not in junior leagues.

Personally, I can't wait till the NHL doesn't allow their players to play in the Olympics anymore, most likely after 2010.

You're putting too much emphasis on the cost of hockey, and are overlooking the fact that Canadian culture is very hockey-oriented. CANADA IS HOCKEY. Yeah it's not a cheap sport, but almost everyone I grew up with were in minor leagues. Everyone had at least one hockey stick (I had two ).

It's not even as expensive as you make it out to be. For the very basics, you need a hockey stick for each, a puck, and skates. You can get hockey equipment for less than it costs to get an Xbox.

The thing that makes Canada dominate in the junior hockey so much is that kids here get started in hockey at a very young age. By the time they're 16/17, they're almost pros. Other countries don't have that love for the game.

I started skating when I was 2 years old.

It is costly to play organized hockey, especially at the AAA level. I am sure the cost to play soccer or other sports at the highest level is also expensive.
