Seriously, if you can't hold your twat and wait to go out...you don't deserve to go out period. If you can't get in to one club cut your loses and move on to the next. If you still can't get it then so be it.

actually I'm 26, over here in toronto older clubs are called 25 and olders. I started hitting then when i was about 24-23 because of bouncer friends and hanging out with older crowds. Once I went 25+ I never went back to a 19+ club again

This is were you're wrong and maybe naive. It really isn't idiotic to check IDs. It's not a waste of time if you're filtering the under age people out. Like I said...the younger generation looks older than they are so it's deceiving. Besides, It's a compliment to me to get checked if you think I look young and not old.

I ID people all day at work, for both cigarettes and for alcohol. You can't just TELL. Usually my guesstimate for how old they are is straight wrong. IDing is important, as people have said it filters younger kids out and keeps the establishment working how it should. No one really has a problem with it but for some reason you seem to think getting ID'd is this huge hassle one must deal with while it's not.

No, it's not rocket science but it sure as hell helps. The only thing that separates a person from the entrance of a club is a piece of plastic. And yes, fake IDs get made which help the toddlers get in. If people really want to get in they 'll get in but if the bouncer checks and scans ID's it'll help and eventually make the under age people stop trying to get in where they don't belong.

You should expect to be ID'd when going out regardless of how old you are. I already have my ID in hand by the time I get to the front of the line anyway, sometimes they don't ask for it but usually they do.

Perhaps it's easier for clubs, bars etc to adopt a business-wide policy of ensuring their own staff check everyone out before allowing entry, essentially taking that particular responsibility and discretion away from the doorman.

If any underage people are caught inside the premises, it'd make it much easier for the club to just sack the employee citing that policy, rather than have the law close the place down.

A much less sensible answer would be : "Yeah, you're right, fucking pedantic idiots, we'll show 'em".

What? My true colors... because I work and have to ID people? I work at a gas station, not a club. I haven't been barhopping because I live in the US and I turn 21 February 9th. I've been to plenty of club type stuff though, I know how the system works.

I thought you had to be of age to sell tobacco and alcohol?? Just asking because I think you have to be here.

You have to be 18 to sell alcohol (to serve it you have to be 21 I think). I don't know what the age is for cigarettes but there probably is one.

And what exactly do you do for a living? I think going to class 16 hours a week and working at a gas station for 20 hours to feed myself and cover other expenses is just fine.
