Is that really SENT?
I also have my hotmail and my facebook notifications on, so I do receive about 20-25 per day, but sent is what I'm curious.

I think that's the clincher for me in keeping my sent texts low. I think if I had a full keyboard, I would be sending a lot more often. T9 is still a pain in the ass.

Posted by Orko on Jan-12-2009 15:33:

Probably around 100 a month, a few a day sent.

Received is a lot more because of email and other services.

You think thats alot???

Girl, 13, sends 14,528 texts in a month

SILVERADO CANYON, Calif., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A California father says he discovered his 13-year-old daughter sent 484 text messages per day last month -- one message every 2 minutes of every waking hour.

Greg Hardesty of Silverado Canyon, Calif., told the New York Post his 440-page cell phone bill revealed his daughter Reina had sent an astonishing 14,528 text messages.

"First, I laughed. I thought, 'That's insane, that's impossible,'" said Hardesty, 45, a reporter for The Orange County Register. "And I immediately whipped out the calculator to see if it was humanly possible."

Hardesty said Reina had messaged a core of "four obsessive texters," all girls between the ages of 12 and 13. Luckily, he was on an unlimited text messaging plan or his bill would have been $2,905 at a rate of 20 cents per message, the Post reported.

Hardesty told the newspaper he and his ex-wife have placed restrictions on Reina's cellphone use, ruling she cannot text after dinner.

When it comes to texting, it appears Reina has much in common with a New Zealand teenager. It was reported last month that Hannah Brooke, 16, of Wellington frequently uses up the 6,000 messages she's allowed each month and borrows phones from friends to keep on texting.

Exactly, that's a repost of my source in my OP.

This means that She_fitz texts every 6 minutes of every waking day each month.

You just need to practice.

I use T9 and it gets way easier the more you do it.

My monthly minute use only averages around 30/total. I rarely talk on the phone. I much prefer to text.

That really is not that bad when you think about it. Don't think about a text as a text, but just another communication avenue. So combine all the calls, emails, IM's, and forum posts, and I'm sure many of us come to a similar average. For some, most of these other avenues have been replaced by texting, so it is totally conceivable that somebody would do it that much.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Jan-12-2009 16:26:

lol, you guys are forgetting mass messages which used to use up a lot of my text messaging. now that i have cut down my text messaging plan, i hardly send any.

i am thinking i will bump it up tho. i really like text messaging. eventho, no one texts me anymore (but i think it's a reciprocal thing).

5 sent and 5 received can be one conversation... so there can be multiple in the span of a minute or 2.

Since Bell started charging $0.60/text sent while in the US my numbers have gone down.

I refrain from sending them once I cross the border. Biggest annoyance of the year.

I text an average of about 10 per month. I feel like like an odd-ball. But I'd rather call people than text back.

How many texts do you average per month, or what's the most amount of texts you ever sent? I mean non-promoter/commercial texts.

usually I send 100-250/month.
But I did have a g/f who turned me into a fiend at one point. She liked to hold full on 'text conversations' [why she didn't call instead, I have no idea]. It was so crazy, that because of transmission delays, we'd hold 3 parallel conversations at any one time. My phone didn't have the auto-word complete thing, which limited my speed or these totals probably would have been higher, but during those months, I was averaging 1300 outgoing, 1700 incoming.

God, let me tell you, it was annoying as fuck.

Posted by Engine9 on Jan-12-2009 17:33:

50 at the most

calling is easier, plus my plan only allows 30 or 50 free

Posted by Skipper on Jan-12-2009 17:37:

I think now that I'm working it's down to 100-150 (most on weekends) combined sent and received, but the month I went to DEMF last year I sent up to 800 or something..with no unlimited plan! I had to eat the $300 bill. I still can't believe I spent 200+ bucks ...on text messaging. And considering the fact I was at DEMF, I know a whole bunch of those were totally nonsensical.

Average around 500-600 a month

I save my sexy convos too.

Text messages sent on any given weekend between 1-3am are hysterical, especially when read the next morning

Posted by tvmann on Jan-12-2009 18:36:

1 message actually sent
15 messages Fido billed me for sending

I'm pissed off but will let it slide

I once had a $150+ txt message bill.

That was back when Telus would charge you $0.15/SMS to RECEIVE an SMS if it was sent online.

I should've said also, I think they could've made a bigger second mistake on the bill but in my favor. Anyway the bill in total is a lot less than I expected as I thought I'd have to pay about $100 for a new phone. If I complain about the texts they might say "OK here's your $2 refund for our error, but hey looks like we made a mistake there on your new phone, thanks for bringing that to our attention, (click click click) hmmm now you owes us $100!"

So for now it's "let sleeping dogs lie" hehehe

Posted by Spin Laden on Jan-12-2009 21:57:

I have pay-as-you-go, so mosts of my texts are off the pc and thus saves me from using up the credits I've put on my cell:

http://www.txt.bell.ca/bell/en/

http://ccdesignlive.com/text.html (for Rogers..works on Fido phones too)

http://www.telusmobility.com/sendam...damessage.shtml

I send about seven or eight per day to the better half this way;

and a couple to my friends and family as well.

The one frustrating thing though is that some ppl will reply to computer texts and you won't get them, no matter how much you tell them where those texts are coming from
