| Originally posted by Spam It may not help your core accuracy, but 'accuracy' includes skills like leading a moving target, which playing a lot of FPS games will definitely help with. Playing a lot of FPS games would for SURE improve your strategy and positioning in battle to make it less likely that you would be shot that one time in the first place. While still not realistic "enough", playing shooters DOES improve beneficial skills that would possibly make you a better soldier compared to those who don't play shooters. |

| Originally posted by Anas Attia I know what your saying, but I see the army being an exception for this type of "immersive marketing". These are real lives and real bombs, most of these teenagers don't really realize it till they're on the field and its too late. |
USA is not the only country with military video games to encourage recruitment, lots have them, Europe, and the middle-east too.

| Originally posted by Yohan if you're 16 and you dont understand the consequences of your action, you should be eliminated from the gene pool note that the game is targeted towards adults. meaning, 18 or over teens play this, yes. but the actual recruiting is targeted at adults and if you have a problem with the video game, might as well remove any sort of video games with guns and such |
cheers mate.

Some are more responsible than others of course, but the majority, you have to admit are dimwits and selling them based on some flash is not the same as selling them on defending their country. |

Anyways that's my two cents, not gonna turn this into another argument Yohan cheers mate. |
no one is going to join the army just because they played a cool video game. if thats all they wanted was to play a cool game they would stay home and play call of duty; there has to be something else motivating their decision or at least an underlying desire to join the army in the first place. theres nothing sensationalized about this versus any other military advertising campaign. its all very obviously marketed towards a certain demographic.
that article points out that applicants "may not even see combat" isnt that usually a good thing?
pretty much this:
