Playing a lot of FPS games would for SURE improve your strategy and positioning in battle to make it less likely that you would be shot that one time in the first place. While still not realistic "enough", playing shooters DOES improve beneficial skills that would possibly make you a better soldier compared to those who don't play shooters.

in my years of observing soldiers train, I have not seen a difference between soldiers who played video games vs who havent.
video games does help some analyze the situation and come up with a decision quicker, but not in things like taking cover, or finding advantageous positions, etc. (though this has more to do with reacting under stress situations)

and misleading ads with boobs are ok?

if it brings attention to your company or job, it's a good recruiting tool

I know what your saying, but I see the army being an exception for this type of "immersive marketing". These are real lives and real bombs, most of these teenagers don't really realize it till they're on the field and its too late.

if you're 16 and you dont understand the consequences of your action, you should be eliminated from the gene pool

note that the game is targeted towards adults. meaning, 18 or over

teens play this, yes. but the actual recruiting is targeted at adults

and if you have a problem with the video game, might as well remove any sort of video games with guns and such

USA is not the only country with military video games to encourage recruitment, lots have them, Europe, and the middle-east too.

I have no problem with video games at all, especially those with the guns lol, I have a three screen setup that would match any arcade setup...

But again, these teens don't know better. I mean, according to the legal age in the states their not even responsible enough to drink before the age of 21..

Some are more responsible than others of course, but the majority, you have to admit are dimwits...their still young and selling them based on some flash is not the same as selling them on defending their country.

Anyways that's my two cents, not gonna turn this into another argument Yohan cheers mate.

bah. dont be afraid. i dont bite (and it's never personal)

no one is going to join the army just because they played a cool video game. if thats all they wanted was to play a cool game they would stay home and play call of duty; there has to be something else motivating their decision or at least an underlying desire to join the army in the first place. theres nothing sensationalized about this versus any other military advertising campaign. its all very obviously marketed towards a certain demographic.

that article points out that applicants "may not even see combat" isnt that usually a good thing?

pretty much this:

Me too... I have the rare original 3-front switch, common 2-front switch, newer compact, and the Sears model. 115 diff't carts at my last count. I believe Chinamon collects as well.
