It's pretty broad. Analog synths are used in a lot of styles but I find it very useful for some bass layering.

Self-containing will not save any samples packed to a refill. The only way it would had worked would be if your friend also had the same refill.

At least zip files can easily be unpacked and edited. Seriously, I just don't get the whole purpose of refills...they're just a container of files that could also sit quite happily just as they are.

No, .rfl is a proprietary format and will not open with Winzip.
