I havent checked out what the new features are yet but there are two things that I hope theyve added or will add soon. The first is adjustable fade i/o curve in the arrangement window like in logic. I hate adding dots everywhere to get a fade the way I want it. The other is mp3 encoding. I think its dumb that you can use mp3 files but you cant export them. Exporting to wav or aiff & then encoding with another program is waste of time & a simple feature that every daw should have.

if they aren't in v8

Do you mean curved automation? Or just a crossfade function in arrangement view?.

Version 8 has the latter and no curved automation that I have seen, despite the amount of requests Ableton AG has had for it.

Ah, curved automation and MP3 output. Also, LFOs on automation. they were the only three things I wanted but didn't get.

The new cycling 74 stuff flawed me. That's going to revolutionise live performance. as far as I'm concerned Live now really is the best DAW, the only two things that it was lacking was groove templates, track folders and crossfading. Now it has those three, its the most powerful out there IMO.

The APC really is very dissapointing though. No good for DJs at all given the lack of EQs and knobs for effects. Still, it might end well if they expose the bidirectional control to other devices like the monome through the new API. The idea of being able to build your own sequencers and stuff within live is just making me foam at the mouth. Does anyone know if Max for live is a full version of MAX/MSP 5? Or is it cut down somehow?

dont worry i actually said i wanted some more audio editing features also plus hi rez lfo's for automation.
so hopefully cos i know my opinions on improving live were heard by support team.

But really wow, i dont even have 7 yet so cant wait to save up for Live 8 to use with Max and csound.

I'm looking forward to the improved Operator. I will scream if I have to pay to upgrade it.

Still no curved automation huh? Silly.

What else is missing that you wanted? I'm struggling to think of much that live really needs now...

I'm also thoroughly disappointed

If 8 gets released and doesn't have this, I think we should get everyone to bombard ableton with emails requesting this feature.

How can they still not have it!?

But really, is curved automation something you often find yourself reaching for and don't have?

I usually record automation by hand myself...

Hmm. Fair enough then.

Sounds more like a bigger update. Still no Dualscreen, that's why I'm definately not gonna get it. Though trackfolders or groups are a long needed enhancement.

Are you reffering to the abilty to have arrangement view on one monitor and session view on another one?

If so, yeah that would have been awesome, next time maybe.
