Aahh I miss Ultraspins.

Remember back in the day when you used to (or still have) a "Party Wall"?

My two fave US events:

Ultraspin 6:
Guv: The Scumfrog & Mark Oliver
KH: Dave Ralph, Infected Mushroom, Dumonde (Giving out champagne!)

Ultraspin 11:
Guv: MO Solo
KH: IM, Markus Schulz, Rank 1.
WOW what a night!

Just had a look through the rest of my flyer collection - it was actually US 12! (If we're talking about the same event)

Guv: Sander Kleinenberg, Max Graham, Mark O
KH: B&J, Rank1, Tall 2XLC, Kenneth Thomas
Drink: Scumfrog, M&S

That was a heck of a night as well!

I really miss all these big events. The last few times I've gone to guv haven't really been rammed. I didn't go to guv very many times last year (last was sasha in the fall and before that was lawler on skybar). but other than that the attendance hasn't been that strong.

it might be the parties i go to, it maybe other things.... but i really miss wandering around guv where it was jam packed at 330am. somehow i think those days are passing by every year.

I also miss Ultra Spin parties.

well the guv can guarantee on people not paying top dollar so their only bet is to offer a cheaper alternative. all the other clubs in the GTA are already feeling it, guv is probably feeling it too already.

Now I remember. It was an amazing night, just after my birthday, and on my friend's bday. Koolhaus til 8:15am, they stopped playing at 8, crowd wanted more, no one was leaving, so they played an encore or two.
Second Sun and Junkie XL killed it too.

were these events tied to Goldclub at that time? If my memory serves me correctly all the big events for cheap at guv went goodbye when Benson and Hedges couldn't make their mark in the club anymore to advertise in their "last frontier"

I think those were two different promotions. I remember Goldclub series doing a a DJ Small club. Sasha once played at Revival which was a good party... back in 2003.

The B+H parties might have been really similar. Although I remember these parties ending when the smoking ban took into effect.

Smokes used to be cheaper to buy at the Guv than at Mac's.

I think this is it. After the ban on advertising in 2003, goldclub still kept funding parties as they were allowed to sell the cigs in the club but not advertise. But eventually they gave up as they werent able to keep funding such large events just for the sake of selling cigs. Also the government then banned smoking altogether in 2006 and that was the end of that.

Thanks big brother!!

Thats because cigs at guv were their way of legally doing a promo. Since you cant give away cigs because there is a mimimum price, they sold them at the lowest legal price allowed.

Yeah we are THAT regulated
