More like it turned me on to "electronic music", or, more vaguely, "electronic elements in music".

Which then brought me to trance, which then brought me to deep/tech/prog etc.

Think of it as a gateway drug.

Yeah, we all know about "On The Run", it was proto-everything that uses a sequencer, and so was all other sequenced electronic music in the 70s, electronic kraut etc. But still...

Strange maybe, but it (1986) was before Trance was invented that I already loved it.

Just realize it might even been the one below because it was the tune of a science tv show long, long ago...

Vangelis - Dervish D (1977)

Even found the tune of the show, it was around 1983: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=pIW7tltoTNA

I love the "Spiral" album.

Wouldn't be surprised if someone would have mentioned Enigma. Love that too.

I can remember a synthesizer hit in the I guess mid 80's, which had a videoclip with two synthesizers on a small stage. Think it maybe was an Italian group. Can anyone remember this?

I know Oakenfold has been mentioned, but: Tranceport. most amazing thing I'd ever heard was I first listened to it.

As much as I hate to admit it, Darude was the first one. Then came Dallas Superstars, Armin, Tijs, Paul and Orkidea.

Oh god that doesn't sound impressive.

When Another Chance by Roger Sanchez was No. 1 in the charts.

Had an internet browse of the genre and kicked off with Sasha's Global Underground 13 and Euphoria. Still have a soft spot for them both today.

Eyal Barkan, Astral Projection, Skazi....

then it was guys like BK (Revolution), Yoji Biomehanika, Blank and Jones, Cosmic Gate, and Svenson and Gielen who were really doing it for me.

Surprisingly I never really liked the big three (Tiesto, Van Dyk, Van Buuren). I liked them in the mix but never really their own original productions.

Started out in psy trance and then I discovered all that progressive and uplifting bullshit and now I don't really like any of it unless it's at a club.
