Alot of Japanese games are very original.. so original they dont even make it to north americer. I dont know the names, cause they were all in japanese
1. Train Simulator Game. You drive a train.. have to break at the right times.. etc. and thats it. supposedly was a big hit in the arcades.
2. Food Cooking Game. You have a grill on the screen, or pan, or pot, and you have to cook all your food before your opponent does.
3. That old anime Soccer game. Its soccer, but its played out like a RPG. that was the greatest game ever..
Bleh super monkey ball is not original!
ever hear of the classic game 'Marble Madness'
some others for the list:
Ultima Online
Diablo
The Sims
RTS Anicent art of war, Karataka(sp?), swashbucklers, the orginal castle wolf(and smurfenstein), and wolf3d, aztec, castlevania(sp?) "the Princess dies at dawn" damn hard to beat as you cant save, wasteland one of the first rpgs where death was death, spacequest / most sierra games around that time, zork, spare change(I need to hunt down a copy of the music), wing commander, life, populous(sp?) the god game, sim city, tradewars2000, ABM, lemmings, scorched earth, that one doctor game where you can slice someone open with a scalpel with out any anstitcis(sp?) and hear that nice pc speaker scream (life or death?), ET <- wtf are you suppose to do in this game anyways?, as much as I hate to admit it DDR(dance dance revolution), COMBAT, tetris, donkey kong, hardhat mac, congo bongo, .... dah enough for now
Commandos of course.
Dude!
I remember 'Art of War' and 'Lemmings'!! How mad were they! I would always pick the drunk guy as my enemy because then I could win hehe
pong, rox0rs j00r box0rz.
I think most of the truly original games of modern times arn't computer games, if that counts. For example dungeons and dragons, and the other rpgs begining at the time of its creation were, and still are incredibly groundbraking, nothing even close to it before. Magic: The Gathering is another groundbreaking game, as there wasnt anything even resembling it when it was created. As for as computer games go Id have to look at all the old clasics which basically created the genres, wolfenstien 3d, the original ultima, simcity, all the games that helped create a whole genre.

I like the old school adventure games like zork, or the sierra games way back in the day. The old ball bounding things were original when they were first made too. Too many games have become that first person 3d experience im afrraid, we are goining so many possibilities, but losing so much creativity. I liked tetrisphere that was kinda cool too. and sonic kicks major ass, i really regreat being such a nintendo zealot and not playing those games back in the day.
it's not _the most_ original, but i'll add Earthbound because it deserves mention as the first (and only decent) heavily comedic RPG.

I've been playing the fuck out of it, I've never experienced anything like it before. I mean you live a second life in real time, no other game does that.
