why is that ridiculous? the club has reduced guest list hours and is open until 5am. Guv and Zone doesn't reduce their rates after a certain time.. why would Footy?

Well, I have been given reduced cover at Guv when I arrived very late in the past, but that's not really the point.

Going to the club at that time, the bar is closed and the DJ set is almost over, so I'm getting a lot less out of the club than people who arrive earlier, ergo I think its reasonable I should PAY less when I get LESS.

Obviously, if the club is rammed at this point or there is some INCREDIBLY hot ticket playing, that may be a different story, price should reflect demand whenever possible. If there's no line and plenty of room inside, however, I think they could consider lowering the price very late in the night.

Anticipating people's objections: yes, I accept that an establishment can charge anything they want, and I am free to pay or GTFO, but I am taking about what customers will consider reasonable and fair, and thus may be in the best interest of promoting repeat business.

^^^ your logic works both ways though.

entrance after last call = the club isn't getting anything out of you other than your cover.

you see 'no bar' as a negative for you...but it's a negative for the club too.

so why would they charge less?

when u go to see holden, dont expect loud thumping beats that make u want to hammer your head in the wall. despite all the negativity (mostly by those who werent even there and just like to put their unnecessary 2 cents in every thread) I can bet he was top notch in his selection.

his style is not for everyone (or rather its not for most)...doesnt mean he sucks...hes just on a different platform..

downloading the igloofest now..

listening to igloofest....if he played anything like this (which most likely he did), anyone complaining really has a very limited sense of music on a whole

Must say Saturday night was fun. Barely made it there from drunkeness but glad I did. Wasn't too rammed but good crowd out for Holden. Disappointed that the crowd thinned out too quickly but I guess the older partiers need their beauty rest

I went in with average expectations, given that I wasn't too fond of recent sets of James Holden. With that being said, he did deliver.. He surpassed what I had expected. Mixing wasn't too bad (surprisingly), and I liked the direction he was taking his set. Looking at him ponder his next musical move was like watching an intense chess game.. but obviously bearable! lol. He played some crazy techier stuff for a while which rocked, and yet still dropped those signature melodic techno gems that he's known for. LOVE this stuff! Was hoping to hear a bit more of this and/or some familiar tracks, but was still satisfied. He also snuck in some funkier stuff which brought me back to Howells a few months back. Fun-gwartqz-tastic! I was worried that he'd get too experimental for my liking, but he saved that next level stuff for his last 30 minutes. It was interesting to listen to, but not very danceable. The crowd agreed...and left. haha.

Also noteworthy: Metalogic was great for the bits that I caught. Surprising? Non! And the closing set.. Mr. Noah Pred, rocked it too. Great way to close the place with some bouncier techno.

Nice running into a few familiar folk.. next up.. The king of dinosaur techno: Marc Houle

Yeah that's a valid point.

fun night all in all.
Thanks to those who came out.

When you go out to see James play you can never really know what he
is going to drop... and that is part of his mistique.

He likes to play music that is rare and sometimes not so dancefloor
friendly but that is really who he is and has always been.

I didnt really have any crazy expectations so I enjoyed what he played
especailly the second hour.

The set has some good moments and great tracks - usually when he's going off into his weirder side. But some of his more poppy/"accessible moments" are what throws me off.

Great producer, some of his studio-mixes are really great - just find the consistency in his sets isn't there for me, and the few moments that are really good in them tend not to be worth the stuff around them.

I don't really care what you were doing, my point is that it's hilarious that you criticize people for posting in the review thread that didn't go to the event when you didn't either.
