-- Sudden momentum for the Downtown Relief Line
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
Given the already existing overcrowding on the Yonge line, if theyr'e going to extend it they -need- the DRL. Not looking forward to the day that boarding the train southbound @ Sheppard is like boarding southbound @ Eglinton early in the morning.
I hope they built this. It will make my commute easier than it is now. It looks good on paper but the real test will be if its actually built. I'd be taking a detour and transferring three times instead of two.

it's quite possible that they could be digging up our bones by the time they start building this assuming they even approve and fund it..

| Originally posted by FunkyCrew I don't ride the Bloor line much, but I'm frequently on the Yonge line, so I guess I see your point how the DLR will ease the Bloor riders off. I don't agree with your point regarding York region riders - so you would rather not have them using the subway, because this would create overcrowding? So screw them, and let them use YRT/Go train instead? |

| Originally posted by kaniz I think what he's saying - before we do anything to further increase the ridership of the TTC, there needs to be things in place to be able to accommodate the increase in passengers. DRL first, expand into York second. Not saying one or the other, just one then the other after. You already have situations where at the transfer stations you have people needing to wait 2-3 trains before they can board one, this would just be increased horribly if they expanded the subway northward first without having plans in place to help better handle the capacity. |

ideally it would be awesome if they had a mirror image of it done but on the other side of Bloor, connecting Downsview and Finch

This line still does not address the major concern of congestion and cars in the city...turn the U the other way...run it north and along Eglinton or Lawrence...and let 905ers have an option to driving all the way into the core of the city!
