-- PLEASE SUPPORT::Proposal to Extend 2am Last Call for Alcohol
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
Although I love the thought of drinking all night, I like being forced to sober up for 2+ hours before driving home. And I know damn well if I could drink until 4am, I would! If I didn't have to drive, well then...
i'm all for it
People are presupposing that once alcohol stops at 4am, they have to leave.
I think House clubs will still go and now extend up to 6am, with last call at 4am, so its still the same scenario as before.
Hiphop will still have the bouncers people off the club by 3:59am.

DUI's are most common in CA already, how can extending the drinking time limit make that worse really? More revenues, more taxes, win win win win!
^^^^
agree! the popos can set up check points if they want and they can make a lot of $$$ from it, too.

As much as I would love this, I really don't think people are responsible enough as it is... giving them an extra 2 hrs to drink more sounds like a disaster in LA
i hate the 2am alcohol policy and think it's stupid for a town like hollywood where it is supposed to be the party town. However, it is hard to fight against M.A.D.D. (mothers against drunk drivers) because their argument would be fairer than ours. There are enough deaths due to DUI already. LA is condensed and many more people drive than popular cities like NYC or Chicago.
My suggestion, if they were to legalize drinking after 2, would be:
1. increase liquor license fee.
2. increase the price/tax on alcohol sales.
3. increase police enforcement within popular drinking areas by either adding checkpoints or even adding officers who would test drivers for alcohol right when they get off the parking lot.
I think it would be more debatable if the legalization of alcohol after 2 is presented in such way that benefits the state and somehow makes drinkers more cautious of drinking and driving.
I'm from Chicago and the 4/5am rule rocks!!! The Crobar goes bananas all night. Sometimes you just get done with life's routines or other entertainment at midnight....
