Jaytech was fantastic! totally agree..give him a headliner spot. He deserves it!!!

expected fluff from Above and Beyond but got "MIND BLASTING" trance. This is what i get for assuming...a sure and proper ASS whooping

as jam packed as it was in there, got to give special notice to the vibe on that main room floor. OFF THE HOOK !!!!! i haven't seen that sort of crowd interaction in what seems like forever.

rounded off the day with 6 hours of valentines day massacres at zone with deko-ze. I think i may need like a knee replacement surgery to go along with work on my ankle.

off to bed...sleep till 11 or so then see if i have the legs or mental willpower to check out fanciulli and dubfire tonight.

Oh my god... what a fucking good night. Actually, "good" doesn't even begin to describe it... WOW!!!
First thing's first... i didn't expect Guv to be so fucking rammed, but whatever, i didn't care
Above & Beyond fucking ripped the entire crowd a new asshole... they were off the hook! Bomb after bomb... seriously, at one point i turned to my bf and said "i can't take this anymore... i need a break from all this!". It was soooo good and soooo overwhelming!
Moment of the night for me was hearing my favourite tune being mixed in to the set and no one realizing was was about to drop... i jumped on my bf's shoulders, front row centre of the stage and then Cassandra Fox's voice ... "TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING"!!! Holy fucking explosion! I went apeshit and almost fell off his shoulders! Such an overwhelming experience for me to hear my favourite tune being dropped
Their entire set was pretty much EVERYTHING i wanted to hear (classic vocal hands in the air trance), except for one tune that i expected them to close with... Air for Life... where the fuck was this track!?!?!
Overall night 9/10 (and only because of how packed it was)!

They played Satellite near the end. The rest were randomly in the middle.

They also played Sirens of the Sea near the end.

Thank god for the fog machines, without them I would've boiled away.

I also thought the sound system was pretty bad for trance.

The only thing that saved this night was the fact that A&B were droppin AWESOME tunes, and I was able to catch up with a couple of TA's I haven't seen in a long while (Funkycrew, Vertigo, great seein ya both!).

Otherwise it was the typical Guv sardine-club, and I wish I'd gone to Footwork.

That is all.

Bassi, meet Guvernment, Guvernment, Bassi77. Guv's going to hurt your ears tonight Bassi, but that's ok, there's nuff nuff skazians runnin around to make the sound crew think they're doing a good job!

Amazing performance by Above and Beyond. Everything I hoped for. That is all.

I notice that as well early in the nite the speaker on the left side was cutting out

No kidding!!! It was horrendously packed last night. Please Guv, next time Above & Beyond are booked, put them in Kool Haus and do us all a favour.

On the plus side, I really enjoyed last night (minus the crowding). I found the first 20 mins or so of their set kind of boring, but the rest of it was definitely a-ok with me Woohoo Satellite! Only disappointeed that I didn't get to hear Miracle.
Also really enjoyed Mark after A&B finished, he dropped some awesome tech-trance tunes!
Good seeing everyone out! And nice job in the Acid Lounge Yohan!

All i have to say is, a&b were awesome.

On the other note, i took full advantage of the nitrogen system. I mean, during the whiteout, i threw this one guy hard to the ground, because he was so fukn annoying. Not a nice thing to do, but i had no choice. When the whiteout dissappeared, there were like 5-6 people fallen to the ground. I aplogize if it was anyone of you guys, but i doubt it becuase this guy was dressed up like 50 cent.

other than that, good night!!

^^^^
lmao at above post

WOW!!!!!!!!!
My first time seeing Above and Beyond and they fucking BLEW my expectations.
*Good For Me (man what a fuckin track)
*Satellite
*SURRENDER!!!!!! totally made the night for me. Never thought I'd have the chance to hear that in a huge venue
*Sirens of the Sea - inside joke with my boy and I so it was WICKED hearing it last night on V-day

Long shots, but I was hoping for: Destination, Songless, Stealing Time, Aalto - Five

Was GREAT seeing old faces - Kris, Vince, Tara, Mikey, Alex, Matt my lovely ear man <3 and YOHAN it's been too damn long
and awesome meeting new ones (Roman, Ian, Coxx, Veronica)
thanks to all those who helped in the quest to get my man's hands in the air... it was a smashing success LOL
Truth: TOO MANY ANTHEMS at the end! Was fucking overwhelming!!!!

Crowd was blluugghhhh (Tara - the travelling abroad concept helped a lot lol i have been laughing at that all day)
Skasians all around... was hilarious seeing about 10 of them get kicked out by a bouncer because they tried to cut the line at the hot dog stand

We left right when A&B closed. fucking BURNED OUT wow
what a night

After 3, Above and Beyond opened up the cheese and played every single one of their old vocal tunes. I have a HUGE problem with dj's who do that. Heard these damn christmas singalongs 1000 times over now, ruins a set when you stuff so damn many of them in. Play a couple, no problem, not each one of them almost back to back. For the record they were: cant sleep, noone on earth, good for me, touch me (not theirs but cant stand it), far from in love, satelite, alone tonight, surrender, breaking ties, sirens of the sea.
A sad discography is what it was.

Anyhow I realize some people are there for that, I guess it is better to have them slapped together at the end so you can escape if need be.

Pretty much bang on. Almost exactly how I felt about A+B's set

To put it mildly, their set was so damn PREDICTABLE. It's like every gig they play, they go on about an hour so of all of their vocal trance hits. Do they even bother to work on a decent tracklist anymore? That above listing of their vocal trance is almost exact same list I heard 3 years ago at Guv.

I really tried to keep an open mind, because I respect these guys so much as producers and I know that they can play better than this. Well, my opinion of them as DJs right now are so low that they'd have to work hard to merely disappoint me but eh.
It's not that the abundance of vocal trance that was the main problem; it's just total lack of variety. All uplifting epic trance. Like every track had like 5 min hands in the air breakdown. This is like, total lack of effort. Anyone can play a set full of own productions because it doesnt take much thought into thinking of a tracklist or programming.
Can someone tell me the different between Paavo, Jono & Tony's style of DJing? I cant tell.

Mind you, I only caught their set from 145 to about 230 and from 330 till 430 so I suppose they could have played one or two techy or some other trance other than uplifting trance. I am a bit disappointed that I missed In Silence (Txitxarro remix) because that would have had my hands in the air. And tracks like this shows me that A+B can really play good trance like they used to pre 04.

I challenge Above and Beyond to play a set without their vocal trance productions. I'm going to bet it'll be so hard for them to do so now, because it's like every gig they play, the crowd expects a lot of vocal cheese. Like Armin, they can no longer control their own tracklists which to me is very sad.

Paavo (such a nerd!) and Jono looked like they were having such a good time. I thought the booth monitors were going to fall off and crack some Skasian's head open. LOL.
The vibe was simply incredible, despite the total crowdedness. I thought I was in a prison/slave ship or something and couldnt breath at times. But I love seeing people totally into trance like last night.

I'm very glad that many of you had good times last night, especially for those of you seeing Above and Beyond for the first time. Was good seeing many of you (esp those that made out to Vola on Fri night) for a weekend of trance.

Thanks to those who dropped by Acid Lounge and seeing me spin for a bit. It was my first time spinning there and I had a good time, despite having no clue how to play. Special thanks to Barry and Sasha for the opportunity, and Jason for ensuring that I had no problems on my end.

PS: Kinda disappointed that I missed Jaytech which was basically the whole point I was going to Guv in the first place

PPS: Forcing myself to stand through that bombardment of vocal cheese was like one of the hardest thing I've done. I'd rather have my balls be trampled on by an elephant.

PPPS: Thank God for Aleksandra. Her set was only thing that made musical sense the whole night. No really bloopy stuff, but lots of proggy and groovy house with funky bassline. Really loved her set.
