I thought the closing DJ (DJ Huggie?) was very good! Could not really get into Matt's set though, at one point he picked up the microphone and said "I know this crowd is into Trance, but I'm going to convert you to Progressive House." I like a lot of Progressive House (Digweed always delivers for me, for example), but spent a lot of time in the back room last night...lol

There was also a new array of speakers arcing down from the ceiling on either side of the stage. I also left the main room a lot because the bass was so loud, it was uncomfortable even with 32db earplugs in! Wondering if anyone else noticed this, or if it was just me since I was tired from having worked earlier that day?

Overall was a fun night, pretty crowded, and the DJ's in the back room were not playing the same genre as those in the front room for the most part, so there was a lot of variety to the music. The quesadillas were awesome as always!

Matt kinda cleared the place by 2ish. The circus crowd demands a particular brand of trance, most of the DJs understand that and play to the crowd. Thats funny that Matt said that, I missed it.

I think the lottery thing is cool, until i realized that they stop the entire club for it. They told my buddy Josh lee to stop playing in the backroom and turn the tunes off for about 15 min, and his room completly emptied out and he struggle to get it going again after that.

It was good to hang with some familiar faces though, and grab a taco

wow somehow my post decided to asexually reproduce itself

Well...

Desapointing night from the Matt Darey point of view: I spent most of my night talking to people (geeeeez nice people at circus) or being in the other room (good high NRG Trance)

The sound was too techno/house for me: if I might like it, I was more in a trancy mood

Hum...
#scrtch its head#
Jon, your post was for sure victim of a Brazilian virus inducing such high reproduction activity

Ok, I am out ----------->EXIT

Hmm...I guess I don't feel as bad for not being able to make it last night. I thought Matt Darey was going to be trancey, and not so progressive?

+++++++++1 . Oh so that's prog house? huh...That was like prog prog house.

Anyone else notice the new speaker setup? Seemed that they were mounted on the stage previously, not hung from the ceiling like last night? Funktion One, perhaps? I couldn't help but notice since they made my entire body vibrate from head to toe...

Saturday was a lot of fun! My friend and I had some good laughs and met some cool people. Anyone have any pics from Saturday?

Btw, Matt's antics were pretty out of hand. With the mic, flashlight, hand signals and jumping, I was having a laugh to say the least!

DJ Huggie ROCKED!!! Twas a fun night even though some of the music was alittle different.

I had no problem with the sound or bass. My problem was... There wasn't any carne asada left for some tacos when I was leaving!

most boards ban for a lot of things that happen here

also most boards have things in place to prevent multiple posting when you click the button only once

That was a birthday party with some of the older disco crowd from back in the days. The birthday boy was one of the original Circus DJs, Frank Del Rio.

I just posted MY PIX! Check them out.

So, I had a great time as usual, but I was pretty disappointed that Matt Darey didn't end up spinning trance. I spent a lot of time in the back room and running around on the patio, hehe.

Good to see you again Karen...it's been a while.

I enjoyed the hell out of Joshua Lee's set. I hadn't seen him in over a year, and he told me he'd be spinning Tech House for a change...so I was a little skeptical. But he kicked ass. Actually the side room was where it was at for me all night. I tried Matt Darey but wasn't digging it at all. Didn't sound like my idea of Progressive House, which I usually love.

Had my first beef burrito (I've always been a beef taco guy) and it also kicked ass.

I hope to see more Joshua Lee in the future. He's got talent.

LOL. Yeah, that made me confused about genres. I tell people that I like prog house and then after he played I was wondering if I knew what I was talking about....

Cool, then maybe you and I are on the same page. I haven't heard much progressive house at the clubs. Jimmy Who is was spinning some in the side room of Circus a few weeks back, and I'm pretty sure Hendo kept the theme there when he came on.

Also at Giant Village on New Year's Eve there was a side area that was kicking ass with Progressive House. There weren't many of us there in that area, but those of us that were were dancing our asses off. It really makes me want to move.
