Slow down to 20mph under the limit or less, or move over. That's the law from what I remember. I'm aware of it cos when the law was passed everyone and their grandma was talking about it, emailing it, etc. Sorry to hear it though Carlos.

When I was driving to El Paso the other day a trooper followed me for about 30 minutes. I started to run out of fuel, so I started to look for a gas station. About 10 minutes later I see one and exit. He follows me through the exit and into the gas station where he circles around the parking lot a few times before leaving. I was going to show him my cock, but he left early...

Matthias is right. If this was a Muniipal cop, you should ask for a trial by jury. This law is subjective and arbitrary, at best. His interpretation of the law, the law itself and the jury's understanding of what the law states could most likely work in your favor.
There are many laws that are enforced like this that people just go along with.
Ask these questions at the trial. "If, travelling at 57mph on the freeway, has put the officer at risk, what speed does the law suggest I stay under?" "What is the required distance, by law, that I must remain from the officer and his cruiser, which is parked in the service lane?" "The ticket states the violation to be 'passing an emergency vehicle'. If I am required to slow the vehicle dramatically when an officer stops, do I not run a greater risk of creating an even more dangerous scenario involving other motorists?"
The bottom line is part of field training is learning how to properly issue citations and put yourself in the safest position to do so. That is why you see DPS troopers walk up to the passenger side window on busy thoroughfairs. Muni cops get this training too. This is nothing more that the city/county siezing an opportunity to take advantage of a law that is debatable.
You can fight this. Chances are the officer won't even show. I hated going to court when I was an officer. It's usually on your day off and you don't get paid for it.

Probably is Driver Safety Course and the amount is the court fee. They probably increased the fee and didn't want to reprint new fee schedules.

Texas Transportation Code - Section 545.157. Passing Authorized Emergency Vehicle
� 545.157. PASSING AUTHORIZED EMERGENCY VEHICLE. (a) On
approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle using visual
signals that meet the requirements of Sections 547.305 and 547.702,
an operator, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall:
(1) vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle
when driving on a highway with two or more lanes traveling in the
direction of the emergency vehicle; or
(2) slow to a speed not to exceed:
(A) 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed
limit when the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour or more; or
(B) five miles per hour when the posted speed
limit is less than 25 miles per hour.
(b) A violation of this section is:
(1) a misdemeanor punishable under Section 542.401;
(2) a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $500 if the
violation results in property damage; or
(3) a Class B misdemeanor if the violation results in
bodily injury.
(c) If conduct constituting an offense under this section
also constitutes an offense under another section of this code or
the Penal Code, the actor may be prosecuted under either section or
under both sections.
