lol

Come to think of it.. it's not that uncommon here in NL too.. just not in the town I live in. I have to put up with 6 mbit/s down.

edit: and now, back to this top notch set!

Thanks Wowsa, for the extra link.

Damn! 10Mb/s?! I wish that kind of speed was available where I live. Well it is I guess, but costs roughly $200/Month to have it.

EDIT: Yeah, you guys in Europe seem to be really far ahead of most places in the US, in terms of Internet speed. There are still a lot of remote areas in the US that have to live with Dial-up.

Sorry about the off-topic. Finally listening now. Thanks again, wowsa!

What a great set, so many excellent tunes. Any ideas what the first track is ?

Posted by cmay119 on Feb-27-2009 02:01:

Yep, it's so nice to get 3 great sets in about 2 weeks time from Luke, Tom & Andrew.

Tom, any plans on throwing together a longer mix, soon? I understand most of these are for radio shows. Would love to see a 2-3 hour recorded live set from you come out of the woodwork.

It's not even a 'problem' per se. Professional DJ's like Tom play A LOT of promo/unreleased tracks. A lot of the time the DJ is obligated to keep the name quiet by the labels/producers to create hype around a new track. Also, quality tracks are the bread and butter for a DJ to create and hold a unique sound. Pro DJ's aren't going to just want to let the masses know the name of their most recent signature track. With how disposable Dance music is, being able to use a particular track for as long as possible before everybody and their mom is playing it is crucial. Especially if it's one of 'those' tracks that seems to be the unanimous favorite from listeners of the mix/set.

Besides half the fun of listening to these sets is getting everyone together to slowly ID the tracks from it.

It's a nice strategy but ultimately I think it's disrespectful to the person who wrote the song and to the listeners who want to know.

hah, different people, different thinking... a lot place for tolerance :P

Ive personally think that a dedicated dj that search for songs hours n hours just to find the most mint tunes out there deserv to have their secret dj weapons, i mean lets say you went thru 1000-2000 mp3 samples and find 1-2 good tunes, and then someone just wanna get the name to download it.... But i can also understand the other side, but having a couple of secret weapons is just good to make a hype for yourself.

Posted by zahran on Feb-27-2009 13:30:

its the labels job to promote tracks not the dj playing them ...no dj is obligated to id the name of a tune he bought i mean he already supported the artist by paying for it ..and i get what ur saying of course but u can not under any condition call it disrespectful

Posted by Mokic on Mar-01-2009 09:28:

Track before Axus is Florian Kruse & Nils Nurnberg - Are You In - Elmar Schubert Remix ...

Posted by coleby76 on Mar-01-2009 18:03:

Will say that Tom's track selection is what I enjoy most about his sets. You're always getting fresh tracks that aren't being caned by everyone else. One of my favorite DJ's who never puts out subpar sets.

Posted by rog2kay on Mar-01-2009 18:20:

He's been my favorite for a while now !! Very good flow , good mixin and great selection of music !! never fails to impress me ..

Keep it up Tom !!!

Hey Tom, $10 says you've had a giggle or two from this thread.

Posted by keeprogressing on Mar-03-2009 23:57:

fantastic set!

Posted by woscar on Mar-04-2009 03:43:

OMG! The controversy!

I think it's perfectly reasonable to not provide tracklists to your sets. Adding to what wowsa said, it keeps fans like us doing exactly what we are doing in these threads

Also, I've talked with some of these guys and they have been very kind in IDing tracks for me when I ask. Sometimes I don't get an ID but I get an artist, or a label and it's more than enough.

These guys work hard to keep their sets fresh and it's their right to keep track names for themselves.
