"I bet you did not know that."
"Forgive me if this goes completely over your head."
"...as unknown as the existence of super strings and twice as complicated"

IMO what your goal should really be is to convey your ideas in a convincing way. It's better for the prof or whoever the audience is to think your idea is great than for them to think that you're smart. Any sharp-minded audience will have at best a lukewarm response to your presentation if they come away from it thinking "that guy sounded pretty smart, but I didn't understand a damn thing he said." And at worst, they'll think you're full of shit, and give you a bad grade, or not give you funding, or whatever it may be.
I'd recommend checking this out -- it's an excellent talk on ... how to talk (even though it's the lame harvard version)

| Originally posted by mezzir Probably the worst possible advice. Good advice to look smart, but also good advice for making you look like a dick. I have a kid in one of my classes who sits front and center and does this, and I think I'm about on the same level with him, but he raises his hand for EVERYTHING. Classes are for learning, not doing everything possible to raise your grade. By answering every question before the slower people in the class have even digested the question, you're robbing them of their education imo. I only generally answer the questions no one else is getting. Still makes you look smart and like you know your shit, but without being an obnoxious prick about it. |

Tell them you post on TranceAddict.
Have tons of confidence of what you are saying when they are asking questions , add tons of special effects to your presentation, have impacting images on it.
Ok this might sound a bit off but it always works for me
On the side of your main presentation do an alternative mini presentation , something fresh and interesting to keep the crowd going , but not necessarily related to what you are talking about, the trick is to try that at the end they both come together as the same result so that if you have to prove a point or so it has more of an impact to it . It always works for me at school try it and see how it works .
cheers mate

this thread brings the lulz
yeah i would deffinitly go for the belittling of the audience, lowers their self-esteem etc, works a treat..
when questioned use of the 'i'm trying to think of how to explain it so you can understand' always goes down well

See what I mean? 3 minutes of sheer suspense.
