Fringe coverage is, I agree, quite bad. Good thing I stay away from that stuff.

Even in perfect coverage areas, such as densely built up areas, call quality was poor most of the time, I got frequent dropped calls, echos, etc.

Then did a road trip around California and was out of coverage for probably 30-40% of the time. Drove to Arizona and for at least 150 miles neither me or my GF could get Tmob service.

It's great if you just make personal calls where it doesn't matter, but not in the styx or when business relies on it - it's just too amateur.

Could it have been the phones?

I don't believe the handsets were the issue. They were HTC and Motorola.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but having to restart at least one call per day because of terrible line quality or crap reception is not something I'll pay money for.

+1 Macky4564 (or Ben?). How do you get VZ to give you a discount....hmm maybe I mention the T-mobile deal......

Depending on how far into your contract is, you may be able to threaten you are going to leave. I dunno if that will work though. I know it works for cable companies!!!

Also, VZ doesn't seem to give a shit (in my own experience) unless you are a business with a lot of phones. At one of my old companies, we had 400 lines on the west coast alone with VZ. If we threatened, that would be $30000 a month in revenue lost.

Bugger. I'm six weeks in to my contract and we're only two lines so I think our threats will be a little bit hollow to them. Oh well, might try it in a couple of years....
