Bars! People nowadays drink the cheaper stuff. Business is good when the economy is declining or booming..it's when the economy is in the middle when their business suffers.

sorry to hear for all that lost their jobs here.

im with dancerecords.com, and its really going bad, we have about 35 employees, now im the only one left, me and the boss

its a hard struggle. i really feel sad a lot of the labels have been gone, no words heard from other distributors too.

shipping vinyl records overseas has risen up, and shipping cost are above the roof.

im still hoping for the best for the coming years.

My friend who moved out here with my girl and I got a one bed that's nicer than mine was for $650. She got a job in a B of A call center making 28K and will have more than enough to be happy. Cali is a tough place to be right now.

I was in Los Angeles from Wednsday morning to Thrusday night. I forgot how different L.A. is. I got to the point that i actually like living in South East Arizona alot better than Los Angeles. Where i live, i have not heard of anyone getting laid off. I have to say, if you can afford to move out of L.A, do so. Its sooooo much cheaper elsewhere. With the money you save, fly back to party.

I don't think I could ever leave LA for more than a few years. This place rocks

Right now we are doing o.k. We have some pretty busy days and some really really slow days. On the slow days I find something to do so I do not get sent home early.

The clinic in Pasadena is doing really bad. One tech worked 40 hours in 2 weeks!!! They are thinking of laying people off there

Pets are going to suffer cuz their owners can't afford to pay for their care.

Hellz I own 1 cat (15yrs), have about 95.00% rights to another (need to neuter him) and also feed 2 more cats that are prego (they need abortions)! Cat food is getting so expensive!

True. Pet owners may cook up their cats and dogs for dinner.

actually people are opting to put their pets to sleep. Had one lady run in sign the paper hand the dog and a pile of cash to put her dog down. The dog was completely fine. Just over weight and had pain in the back or hips. She could not afford treatment. So sad

Yeah, that is sad. I bet some dog cuisine lover somewhere would be really pissed to hear this.

Entertainment is OK, not doing great but still ok.

I concur...

As much as I would like to hate myself for working for BP, I simply cant overlook the fact that I'm getting serious cash for the work I do. As long as a pipe dont open up and create a fire, I'm pretty much a happy camper!

While this might not be the best idea, I think they should allow for off-shore drilling in CA. The state will make alot of money.

Posted by R!CH on Mar-08-2009 19:13:

i was volunteering to set up for the carl cox massive on friday afternoon and started chatting it up with other volunteers in the catered food room. turns out i was sitting in a room full of unemployed people, 10 of us. surprisingly the only two sectors growing in the economy are health care and hospitality. when you read a statistic like 10% unemployment, realistically you're dealing with 20% of the population without a full time job. that's 1 in 5 people in la!

This. Legalize and tax it. This would bring in so much tax money. The industry has even gone on TV saying they have been trying to pay taxes on their sales!!!!

Posted by Jim Carson on Mar-08-2009 23:56:

If anyone is still left in this state without their medical marijuana card, go to http://www.marijuanamedicine.com and call 1.800.268.4420 to set up an appointment with one of our doctors.

Add us on Myspace too:

Let them know I referred you.

I work out of the Glendale office mostly and we have a new office opening in Woodland Hills that I will manage as well . Other locations in SoCal inlcude Norco/Corona, San Diego, Beverly Hills, Santa Ana, and Lawndale. In the near future, we will also have offices in Santa Monica and Long Beach.

Try and gather as many medical records, prescription labels, x-rays, MRIs, etc. documenting your condition.

See ya soon!

could i get some chemdog please?

Posted by ninetyninej on Mar-09-2009 05:12:

Yeah when I read those stats the other day I almost started 'Arrived: Depression' thread but changed my mind - I'm hoping we avoid a depression (doesn't look good tho)

Also I see these 3 to 9 month recovery estimates and to be honest we could be looking at a couple years of this, I think we won't recover till at least 2010 (if we're lucky!)

Legalizing and taxing marijauna is a no brainer - wish at least CA would do it.

PS. I type this on my iPhone waiting a 4 hour flight delay because Southwest blows and routes their planes all over the fucking country making stops to keep packing the plane at my expense :|
