Actually, if anyone knows of any other sales/marketing type jobs in Montreal, let me know.

It's a great stepping stone... he even met his wife there.

By the way does anyone know if being Network+ cerified helps getting a job these days? Going to pass my exam April 15th.

net+ is one of the easiest cert out there along with A+. It might help you get in futureshop or places like that. But I wouldn't expect making $20 from Network+

Im already in printed circuit industry so the network+ is more of a backup plan. Gonna do the A+ after the network+ and not sure what after that. Any suggestions? I never got a chance to talk to someone who even knew what network+ is.

Network+, I basically did a quick read of the sybex book or another one and wrote the exam, got like 960/1000...not much value out of it.

Although, the biggest waste of certification money was to do get my M$ certs.....and i dont even use the knowledge as I work in UNIX now :P
In total, i wrote like 9 M$ exams.

The CCNA cert gave me a whole lot more knowledge than network+. However, it expires after 3 years...never bothered renewing it.

I still think that the best IT education you can get is hands on, will to learn on your own, and a univ. degree. The univ. degree will cover a wide range of theory from programming, math, OS structures, distributed systems, networking, security, etc etc.

Yeah...I hear it is a good stepping stone! Kinda not look forward to the high pressure sales type job, but oh well...gotta work somewhere!

Start on Monday actually...really weird for me coming from my own business from the last 5 years to this..

i used to work at insight.

they have you doing ica sales i bet (i didn't work on the floor)

only 2 in 10 actually bother finishing the training, just wait until you see how much failure that company is going through right now. Don't expect any comission.

Well I don't plan on going back to school ever thats for sure. Basically I just picked up a few Network+ books and learned it all from scratch on my own. CCNA seems more interesting but less in demand then MCSE when I look at Job sites. Don't really have any goals with this right now except pass Network+ and A+.

Hell yea I killed my Network+ exam today with an 820! Now its time to produce!

Yup...ICA, but west coast sales. They divided us up into ICA west coast and IDC (north east USA). We already lost 6-7 people on the ICA side...some left, some were canned. A LOT of weirdos in our little class!

Been there a little over a month so far, just made my first sale this week...with a whopping $10 of comission!

We'll see how long I last before going nuts tho...the only thing I really enjoy is the people I work with.

i would have never been able to do that job, good for you for being positive and sticking it through. Their training program makes it difficult for people that want to work there, because i have been told that it makes no sense:
