Aside from Villalobos, I'm really tempted to make it out to Nocturne4 on Saturday but I hear nothing but average reviews from Carl Craig as a DJ....I would hate to pay $45 to be dissapointed and end up being tired at piknic the next day for villalobos...

anyone going to this on Saturday?

I was looking forward this album with a lot of anticipations since Apparat albums are amazing, but Moderat's new album is kinda boring

Nothing really special about it, I like the last 4 tracks of the original version

this one has 5 extra tracks I will give it a listen

id say find a set of Carl craig and listen to it. He's very similar from set to set.

He did not impress me at DEMF. Too mellow

Carl Craig's sets are MEH. He's pretty boring.

I believe the admission price is $35 and it'll definitely be worth it to
check out Lusine in the savoy room, then the other main room highlights
such as dOP, Dandy Jack & Mathew Johnson, and Tobias

If you like Villalobos, you should check out Dandy Jack - he's playing with Mathew Jonson at Nocturn 4.

I've gotten myself a weekend pass - but having the "oh crap, I need to pace myself" so I'm not zonked out too much for Ricardo and not able to enjoy myself as much

saw dandy jack and his duo with Ricardo last year (Ric y Martin), it was good but nothing spectacular. Mathew Jonson, on the other hand, was really fckin good at piknic in 2008:

Meh I didn't like Jonson last year

And Passkal, Piknic 1 meaning Saturday right?

I personally enjoy most of Matthew Joson's prods and his work as Cobblestone jazz. he only played his stuff at piknic...not the best flow but it was well done considering it was a live act.
Two of my other favorite piknics where Alex Under + Sety and the Alex Smoke day...not for everyone, but I personally really enjoyed.

Anyway back to Saturday....I just realized that Dop is on the bill...I have a remix of Djuma Soundsystem from Dop that I've playing a lot the past couple months! I'll have to go early to check this out

I was there for that and really liked Dandy Jack, enjoyed it the most when it was the two of them - when ricardo was playing on his own at the end is when it lost me and I headed out shortly after he plaed Les Enfants.

It was epic.

Moderat blew me away, and for me to say that...

Mala delivered one of the best dubstep sets i've heard !

mala fucking blew my mind...seriously...never heard bass like that and he did whatever he liked with those turntables of his...serious meditating to the sub bass all night long....really great night

I'm still hungover but yeah: wicked beats all around. The ambient room was a bit odd...

back from Nocturne4 @ metropolis

Almost a flawless party at Metropolis, really enjoyed this event.

Set-up and visuals were amazing, sound was top notch, vibe was great! Lots of people again this year, dancefloor was packed till the end.

Dop was perfect to start, Matthew Jonson vs Dandy Jack did a superb set, Tobias then took it deeper for his live and Carl Craig well....he completely murdered us...amazing show. Lots of huge old school techno classics, mixing was tight as hell, he definitely surpassed my expectations...his set alone was worth the ticket price imo.

Met a lot of people from Toronto, Philly, Detroit, Denver, Australia, NYC....everyone is unanimous: This year's Mutek festival (10th anniverssary) is the best so far!
