Hey Jules, are we conquering indoors yet? I mean, with the winter on its way, I think prog/psy should migrate to the "main room"

oohhhh so when the weather is good you want outside, and when its crap you want inside....

here is a better idea, you stay outside in the cold because "psy sounds better outside"

cheers ta

JulesPLees

What is there to be said about JulesPLees?
Let me tell you.

Quirky to say the least, Jules grew up in the northern suburbs of Melbourne with his Greek mates - doing 2 things - PLaying
indoor soccer and listening to dance music. At the age of 16 he (without knowing it) had completed his first mix -
a compilation of his favourite tunes that had been fed to him through DJ's like Jason Digby at underage parties.

After discovering real dance music and deciding he loved it - Jules went on to teach himself the craft of vinyl djing.
His first demo cd was picked up by the good folk at room and the 5am crew - wierd as he was booked for a megauplifting
night - Jules is a Progressive dj.

Then fun then began. Jules had quite a run for a couPLe of years there - in that time he PLayed mainstage with Tiesto,
Joof and Andy Moor but to name a few - however Jules had been lucky. A DJ who had moments of brilliance, but let himself down
with brain fails.

His brilliance land him a few decent gigs though - Mainstage with J00f, Tiesto, Andy Moor and Nick Warren to name a few.
In this time he managed to have a drunken rant at Above and Beyond (who actually quite liked the point of the rant),
break tiestos concentration during a set (making tiesto sign his copy of traffik which later got sold to alley
tunes for $20 - it was signed with his real name!!!!), annoy Steve May and Ben Evans with late rent payments (soory )have a bourbon and coke with petter and see one of the all time
great prog dj's foam at the mouth.

Along with that though Jules also got to meet some fantastic peoPLe who were like minded and loved this stuff as much as him.
One of those peoPLe wasnt his ex-fiance who decided it was time for Jules to retire. So he did. Fool.
There was light tho - the ex part of the ex-fiance kicked in and Jules was free as a bird to do what he liked - so he did.

Coming back to this dance music world isnt easy....times change, peoPLe change and most importantly - hairstyles change. Jules
is no longer the young(er) party dude that could do it on his massive charisma (and ego) - He realised something. He has to be good.
So he got better. He can now DJ in all 3 major formats - Vinyl, CD's and Ableton (or any other sequencer).

Now Jules is running a night in conjuntion with Curtis Tennant (and about 10 other great peoPLe) called Loose. He is also looking forward
to working with a few other crews on some outdoor work and other things. Along with this Jules is turning to the thing he loves more than most
things - music. Teaming up with WaveMotion (Sasha Petrovic) Jules got a tune on Beatport - Solar Knights - a cute little psy number - that got to
number 20 (for about ten seconds) - the screenshot was captured. He is now deep in the process of completing a medicore studio that will
allow him to get those songs that PLague his dreams out onto digital format.

Chances are this bio will be used to PLug a night or promote a mix - if so - and you havent seen or heard him recently -
Go along or download the mix - He's always improving. The sound to expect varies depending on night or type of mix.
JulesPlees PLays everything progressive trance - whether it be clubby, proggy, doofy or techy - etheral sounds and most importantly -
LOVE is what Jules is all about.

and yes - Jules wrote this.

Jules PLees - April Promo

Okay so this mix is not the Initial Vision - thats gunna take a bit of time. However in the meantime - check this out.
This one is a bit of a product aimed at covering a few genres but still making it fit. 90% of the tunes i got this month
the other couPLe are big faves of mine (and not that old at all). It does get a bit vocally in parts - and then it gets deep in
others - but all up it scrubs up alright imo - reminds me a bit of the old Gabriel and Dresden promos

Enjoy

1. Bradler and Smith - Dreams
2. Mike Polo - You're not Alone (Filthy Rich mix)
3. Lank - Let it Roll
4. Whos who? - Klack (Inpetto mix)
5. Jimmy Van M - My Eyes (Dibby Dougherty mix)
6. Addy van Der Zwan - Nightmare (Noir mix)
7. Dark Providers - Nasicilia
8. Faithless - Music Matters (Mark Knight mix)
9. Soliquid - Reversible
10. Stel - A New Life (Josh Gabriel mix)
11. Anthony Grant - Run through the Light

XITATION

XiTatiON aka Jonathan, a relativity new name doing the round of melbtown
playing his own blend of Progressive/Psy/Techno.

Jon isn't new to the club scene in Melbourne having spent many nights in
dark, loud underground clubs listening to some of the best
progressive/techno and psychedelic sounds the world has to offer. Only
in the past year or so has Jon managed to be involved in a relativity
new night in Melbourne named "The Clarity" which has lead to him
starting to play music out in clubs, making the transition from bashing
out sounds at home (much to his Neighbours disgust) to now having a
resident gig at Clarity, and having played at events like Loose and Plush.

Recently in an Inpress DJ Booth interview Jon was asked "In a nutshell,
describe what you play..." his response was "munty progressive tracks"
which perfectly sums up the sound you are likely to hear him playing.

When asked what type of music is his favourite he responded "I love all
electronic music, but progressive is my home or safe place that you can
always come back to, after taking an adventure over to the Techno or
Tech House or Psytance side for a while." Having grown up loving the
sounds of Hybrid, James Zabiela, Vibrasphere, Neelix, Nubreed, Infusion,
Crystal Method and Danny Howells to name some of his favourites, his
taste of music is very broad. This shows in all of Jon's gigs, he
always tries to blend the elements from all these genres to create his
own unique sound.

Keep your eye out for XiTatiON, often found out and about around
Melbourne clubs/pubs and bars.

"Come say hi I don't bite, much... :P"

James Brooke

James Brookes interest in dance music was spiked at the mere age of 12. Previously immersed in more alternative sounds, his older sister exposed him to a different style of music. BT Movement in Still Life, Prodigy Fat of the Land, and Paul Oakenfolds Perfecto were on constant rotation at home. Once hearing this, James was hooked.

At age 16 he sold his bass guitar, left the band he was involved in and went out and purchased some decks and a mixer and taught himself how to mix. Inspired by local guns Phil K and Nubreed, James initial genre of choice was breaks. However, feeling the urge to take his tastes and sets further, he started exploring many other genres and styles. He discovered he loved them all. Not content to pigeonhole himself into one box, James is now a very versatile DJ. Progressive, trance, psy and techno are mixed seamlessly together, making sure even the most fickle crowds are kept entertained and rocking.

The last three years have seen James arrival into the Melbourne dance scene. Rocking many of Melbournes top nightclubs such as Room680, Brown Alley, Circus, Viper Room, Chasers, 3D and many more. He has supported international DJs Tiesto, Christopher Lawrence, Thomas Bronzwaer, John 00 Fleming, Tyuoshi Suzuki, D.A.V.E the Drummer, Tenishia, Kuffdam and Chewn. He has played at Earthcore & Tickled Pink. A regular at Interview, Stargarden and Kiss FM and also a favourite on Joy FMs weekly Saturday night dance show Vinylizum. With residencies at White Sands, Nexus and Loose, this young talent is really beginning to establish himself as one of the local scenes gems.

James Brooke is without a doubt a crowd pleaser, intuitively understanding and reading the crowd is his specialty - He always seems to know what tracks to play that will keep the dance floor in motion. Smiling faces, dancing feet and heads bumping, no chin strokers to be seen. Its this impressive set of skills that have seen James chosen to compile discs on CDs such as Godskitchen, In Trance We Trust Australia, and the official Sensation Australia compilation as well. Feats normally achieved by only the most established internationals or their equal.

The start of 2008 saw James launch his own record label, 405 Recordings. Already gaining the support of countless local and international djs, label features such names as, Bart Claessen, Bas & Ram, Trentmoller, Cosmic Gate, alongside local guns, Trent McDermott, Aaron Camz, Dave Stroud, Wavemotion and Marsh the coming months should see a plethora of new talent join the label. Keep a close eye on 405 recordings and its boss, as they are destined to do great things.

Alongside his involvement with Clarity which will host its first International in May, and Dynamic, a night which has continued to spawn some of Melbournes freshest and most exciting talents, he has continued to play at events such as Darkbeat, Loose, Frisky Music, Overnoise and has just been announced to play at the Likes of You event with Hernan Cattaneo and Loco Dice. Alongside a few fellow Melbourne

DJs, Dave Juric is determined to bring Progressive dance music back in a big way in 2009, utilising elements from both house and techno while never forgetting about the dance floor along the way.
