Yes I've found basslines to be the part of a track where I play with the most when trying to finish it, usually deciding whether to sidechain or to use raw keyboard notes.
Sidechaining bass is nice as I love to drive a track melody through the bass after each kick, allot of it is the EQ'ing pretty much for sidechain, I find it a little hard with my 5'inch cone monitors to decicde on how much bass to apply.
I do like it when the bass takes a little trip of its own during a melody but still manages to complement it, house music has this allot at breaks.
I thought i actually made the sub bass too loud .. well ..
Anyway yeah its important to get one sound before proceeding to the next , or else the whole arrangement can just sound awful. Making trance basslines is kinda like a game of mixing and EQing.
