Maybe you guys stayed in the same path and JZ evolved into a different sound.
It's so hard to judge music, I mean, it's like judging art. You can give all the reasons you want, but at the end of the day it's my opinion vs your opinion and they both matter so unless JZ stops headlining events and demand goes down, logically, he is still the same JZ just with different fans, I guess.
If you ask me the whole scene has changed since 06/07, I mean it has to, DJs like JZ (leaders, pioneers) carry on the scene, if they chose a path that will bring them down they have to realize it otherwise their entire business model will fail, however, if you continuously see him playing the same kind of music and he still sells out tours then maybe he's doing it right and you guys are still living in the past.
Similarly, you have Guns N Roses, they have an almost identical line up than they did in the 80s-90s and yet they didn't hit it that hard with Chinese Democracy. It's all relative guys, time changes, people change. We can have a love affair with JZ in 2006/2007 and then hate him in 2008. Music is still appealing to other people though, that is the only factor in the equation that will never change.

Wotyzoid, is your day job being a crash dummy for car companies? That's the impression I get from watching you argue.

Yeah, all you said is pretty nice and actually sounds coherent but the case is that James Zabiela is not exploring new sounds and moving forward. He simply became lazy at selecting his music.
"hire a teenager while he still knows everything" = wotyzoid.

haven't listened to anything he's done over the past few years, but i remember loving his b2b set with sasha @ monday bar 2003.8.23
Zabiela frequently has Pioneer people at his place test driving new gear.
There's only one other guy that is at least as good as him and that's Phil K (Lostep).

My favorite JZ sets were b2b's with Sasha in 2004-2005. That was some good music
i have to give respect for accepting constructive criticism and not going all deadmau5.
*thumbs up james*

The only thing I've ever heard from JZ is a radio set dated 9/28/2007. Has samples of Stranger Than Fiction scattered about. Kind of a cool set. What's regarded as his best stuff for a newbie?
Thanks for the set James that's very nice of you honestly.
Hopefully other bigger name DJ's who surf around here can take note and learn to be as informative and kind as you and not flip out when people give their two cents on their music.

Please come to EDC 2009 in Los Angeles this summer James!!!!
We can't wait!!!
