I felt like the laziest DJ in the world posted up behind the decks sipping gin & tonic in the sun while playing whatever I wanted...

Great tunes Clovis. That first track is so chill.

Too short though mate, I was left wanting more

Would be sweet to hear the other sets from the party too - I assume it was Droog et al.?

I'll make another thread here with the rest soon

I'm playing a happy hour set in a couple hours and that's exactly what I'm gonna do til people show up. Early sets give you a chance to play some awesome but not specifically "danceable" music. Most of the time the tempos vary greatly from track to track and just doing an easy blend is perfectly acceptable, imo.

Great set, btw. Really liked the Entropy Reigns (I usually play the Closed System Dub).
Gymnastik and In Your Eyes really stood out for me too. Untitled B1 was pretty cool, I'd call it a "sparse" track.

Good stuff mate

Just started listening. This opening track is sex. Will have more to say after I'm done listening.

i don't know...

i open up for myself and others a lot with these sorts of sets and always try to mix. i can start sometimes at like 80 bpm and bring up to 130+ by the end. just because tracks have different tempos doesn't mean you need to beatmatch. there are many different techniques, knowing/mixing on the breaks, layering beatless tracks, cuts, etc.

personally i just prefer to at least try mixing, especially if I am recording. anyone can learn how to beatmatch two tracks with similar tempos, but like with any kind of mixing, knowing the tracks in and out and making musical decisions based on this knowledge puts your mixing on another level. i relish the opening slot in this regard, because it gives me a time to focus on mixing as an artistic form without a distinct need to keep people moving a certain way.

and i sip gin & tonics too at this hour

ps i love that terje remix

Awesome set Clovis, I rarely get to listen to opening sets like these, and yours is fucking outstanding.

A few friends got together right now at my g/f's house for some drinks and I've playing TA sets in the background and this has been getting some good comments.

Thanks man, I'm glad. Tried to just feel the overall vibe instead of thinking about the music too much.

It's pretty sloppy for my standards but I think it doesnt really matter.

I'll most likely be playing the same slot again on May 10th up there

Bingo. The overall vibe of the set is sextastic mate. This is a perfect example of the music being much more important than the mixing. I haven't listened to it with headphones, so I can't really comment about the mixing, but I can tell you that for my uneducated friends it was a success

faccckkk this was great. listened to stoned this morning. wake and bake for the win. i loved the vibe, your mixes have a straight up cali vibe. i love it. seems so foreign because i've been so little and don't know the night culture as well as you may but it was awesome. definitely on my rotation
