Jesus! Desyn ripped it in this set! He played like he had somethin' to prove!

This is THE best mix I've heard from him in well over a year. This set definitely brought the funk. So glad to see he's back to this sound.

i personally dont get the tunes in the middle, i dont think they fit the set at all and they are played by every trance/progresssive dj out there, desyn have lots of better tunes than that. But overall its a really good set with some piano madness

Hmm, I only feel that way about track 08 & 09. Pretty much every other track in this set is right up my alley. Tracks 10 & 11 are quite a bit more disco than I ever thought Desyn would play, but still pretty good tracks. With what we've been getting for recorded Desyn over the last year or so, I'll definitely take what I can get in the Funk & Prog dept. Above all else, this mix shows that he's still playing that sound we all like him for.

Agreed. Pretty bland filler.

I agree Dinka - Meaningful Story (Jayetech Remix) is like armin's style haha. Athough when that track came out, it made it to my selection; the track is good enough. Club 84 - Sophie (Michael Cassette Remix) also called my attention, but it is a very predictable song and kind of boring. nothing like cassette's Shadow's movement, or his remix of A sort Homecoming.

I loveee track 7 and track 10. the rest.... ok
I feel more ADd2basket playing track 10 than Desyn.

probably, the progressive house has slowed down a bit. who knows?

Posted by wowsa on Apr-18-2009 22:01:

the progressive house is geting worse n worse, everthing sounds almost the same and almost every artist has a sound that they repeat over n over again. U can in the most cases after 5 seconds tell who has done a track. Atm the house music stands still, and im talking both progressive and tech house.

Posted by Carl Holland on Apr-18-2009 22:07:

haha found track 7 guys.
Yup Progrssive house has become.....Deadmau5 rhythm???
beatport must be shitting me, everytime i log into prog house, it is Deadmua5 rhythm all over... hahhaa

track 7 = ......
jay kay - the Dream

ye, listen to top 100 on beatport progressive house, its deadmau/adam k sound on everything

Posted by lcid on Apr-18-2009 22:27:

glad i'm not the only one getting sick of that sound. too sterile... not enough soul.

but despite those few tunes, this mix is still quite enjoyable.

Posted by m1kest4r on Apr-19-2009 01:36:

yeah i thought it got a little boring in the middle there but overall a very good mix.

cheers for posting

+1, and most of the things that pass as progressive house on Beatport are utter shit. It's like everything they don't know how to classify they toss it in there

i personally preferred the 'desyn masiello @ cha cha colombia' mix as it seems desyn was on top form that night and the track selection is really cutting edge and eclectic.. i enjoyed this newer mix but overall it seems to have been specially put together for fans of the fluffier stuff - i'm also guessing that 'jimbo' is the producer known as jaytech so that might be why!

Posted by wowsa on Apr-19-2009 03:03:

a fluffer

That statement makes you look like someone who had absolutely no idea who Desyn Masiello was before this thursday.

track #2 has the same little bell/chime noise as Tensnake - Holding Back My Love. totally threw me off earlier today and i didn't figure it out until just now.

Well put. That's why we like Desyn. If I want to listen to Tech-House, Desyn is NOT my first choice on what's new & fresh in that particular sound (though he still handles himself well there). When I think Desyn, I think fluffy, happy-go-lucky, funky, undiscovered house. He's of a rare breed that I hate thinking of as a band-wagon jumper. This set has brought hope back for me that he's still the same dude as he was a couple years back.
