Maybe you'll get lucky but I wouldn't count on it.

There wasn't mis-conduct... lol I dont even know where I implied there was.

They never documented a single incident either, and in the cases where I was repremanded they were often long winded and short on actual content.

I put this as my reason for being fired: "Lack of motivation due to the quality of work enviroment."

I basically just ground to a halt in terms of being able to work, even though I got all my shit done on time and usually of a quality that would be expected, even more so for someone who was paid well, well, well under the going rate of someone else in my field (and thats just counting one of my job descriptions).

if you do file for unemployment, just make sure to save some each week, as taxes are generally not taken out. so you'll have to pay it all back next year.

that sucks. Seems like it is hard to get a job :-/ More than half my team from a year ago is gone, half of those still collecting unemployment.

Just work at Chipotle and live off of Burritos.

Did you capitalize burritos because theirs are big enough to qualify as a small child?

You just have to put down your previous employers and most of them wont even attempt to say things bad about you to a new employer beyond the information that they need like work dates and salary. Talking bad opens up a whole arena of defamation suits.

*edit*

Especially when they have no written documentation of infractions or my termination.

whereabouts in the u.s and a ?

How much do you have to claim before you get taxed? Last year I collected just shy of 2k and while taxes weren't taken out, I wasn't taxed MORE as a result.

I said for them to take 10% out for federal taxes.

I am going to get in school ASAP though so I can just jump on the parental insurance bandwagon...

Unemployment seems like a PITA. I do not want to work right now, I want to do school full time.

i dunno, but less than $2k isn't that much. i'm talking about like long term unemployment

i got fired right out of the blue yesterday. i'm still in shock. my boss loved me but it's too much of a job for me (i was always swamped and a little behind) and he is bringing in his sister-in-law to work for him and she has a lot more experience than me. so yea...i'm unemployed lol but i feel ok about it. the bf and i are thinking of moving to dominican republic for a while to help his dad run the 2 bars he just opened up. i'm applying for my passport renewal tomorrow

we were just toying w/ the idea of moving to DR recently but my common sense (and his) stepped in and said that it's probably not a good idea to walk away from a steady job w/ the economy right now, but now that i'm fired we're like, "hmmm" lol

Just fucking move to Canada, Jamie.

Posted by gehzumteufel on Apr-21-2009 22:07:

That blows Jammerz. I may move out of the country in a short few years for a business opportunity also. A friend is voluntarily leaving the US (so he doesn't have to deal with deportation bullshit) in June, and wants to start a business. I would be integral in this shit. So yeah, in a year or so I may just up and leave.

yea it was really sounding good when his dad called a few weeks ago like, 'you guys gotta come here! it's paradise you won't need any money hardly bla bla bla'... but i just couldn't walk away from that job. i almost feel really liberated and free right now though. i've got some money in the bank so im fine with bills for a while and we can always just go to DR and live like kings. it wouldn't be a for ever thing, but certainly for a while.

what country would you up and leave to?

Just go. Seriously.

And my friend is from Montenegro, so he is going back there. All his family is there. So it would be pretty easy for me to get started with him and his business that he wants.

Posted by on Apr-21-2009 22:37:

Wow, that sucks. I'd like to welcome you unofficially to the unemployed club.

DR sounds fun but obviously it has no future but you should do it for a couple of weeks as a vacation. Btw, you should rent that cheesy 80's flick with Tom Cruise as a bartender, can't remember its name.

The problem with DR, like all countries in the Caribbean, there's a small wealthy resort section and the rest of the country is 3rd world, dirt poor, and dangerous for anyone who's not a native.

Yeah, but fuck man, I would be so close to everything in Europe. Nice beaches and what not there too.

Montenegro is very nice I hear, my father went on holiday there for a month a few years back and said it is wonderful.

With all my free time now I wonder if he would like to take me on holiday someplace nice...
