I'm sure the pumping has something to do with it as well.

Hey look, if he wants to know how to be more awesome he's getting some good first hand experience, don't you think?
Write that down, buddy.

Who's the one with the well-paying job here? That's right. Sit your ass down.

No, because I make just as much money as you.
What do I get for making more? Standing on a phone book? Pile of money?

Why do nurses get paid well? All they do is say "i'll be right back sir/maam" and then use google to find %string="what is this lump on my chode?" Exempt variables="%herpes+%aids"
actually I haven't been to the doctor in 8 years. I don't know the difference between nurses and doctors anymore.

Originally posted by n3lly LMAO i was just thinking the same thing. Then again not sure if i'd ever ask a question like the one above in the c0r. I've been unemployed for nearly 3 months now (recession is bad in Ireland, probably the worst out of all the European countries).. Personally, i'm done with it. I'm tired of applying and applying without even getting an interview and only a 1/3rd of the companies getting back to me. I've applied to about 40 jobs now (marketing related) but anyway i wont go into it. End of the day if getting a bar job is near impossible (as it's that bad here) I've decided to head off and work in another country. I've applied to a job out in Queenstown New Zealand. I have a few friends out there and really liked it when i was travelling over there. Going to hopefully hear back from them in May and then i'll fly over there in June. Work the Ski season there and then hopefully find summer work to continue working there. My main concern is of course that this is no career path and that in a few years time i'll be older without too much valuable experience but with all this shit happening around us I've decided it's time to just live life and enjoy my surroundings rather than have to listen to all the shite that's going around me at home. I could go on but honestly. Your best bet getting a job in this climate is through someone you know rather than applying for them through an online agency, unless you're shit hot they wont even look at you. It's who you know, not what you know.

Originally posted by Lunar Phase 7 Yeah, good advice, also my apologies for my part in derailing the thread somewhat. This Nelly chap speaks the truth. Alternatively, Jenny's line of work all joking aside is pretty stable. After all people will always inevitably be ill, and people always gotta take a shit. So 10/10 for her spotting the job opportunity there.

That is extremely fucking far from underpaid.
Yeah up here it's changed a lot. People just generally like to bitch.
Keep in mind I won't be making that much money right out of school...but it won't take long.
Having finished my degree, i went travelling and learnt very quickly that money has very little to do with having a good time in your life.
Don't get me wrong I'm not some hippy, dope smoking hallelujah freak, I'm aware money can alleviate many problems. But some people who earn shit loads have no time to enjoy the smaller things in life.
For example a lot of nurses i know work because they love the work not the 12 hour shifts that come with working in the hospitals.
Finding something you have passion for is the key to succeeding. It's when you happen to earn a good salary on top of this that things become really fun.
Ok I'm waffling a bit now.. But priorities for me changed big time after I went travelling for 16 months during '06-'07.

Originally posted by jennypie Depending on where you got your license, yes. I suppose we're underpaid. My salary as an RN will be capped at just over 70 000 a year. But to me that's a lot of fucking money, more than I need to live comfortably, that's for sure. And I don't even intend to stop after that. I can probably make up to 80-90 000 once I have my master's....more as a primary care practitioner.
