my musical taste is bipolar..its all about my mood, i dont really care about genres, heck i even go back and listen to cheesy trance once in awhile.

Posted by boris_the_bear on Apr-24-2009 22:48:

I'll be brief. What I prefer to listen to is the real shit. What you all like to listen to is utter crap!

Joking of course I'm on electronic music since 2002. Before that I listened to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, then Nirvana and Jane's Addiction. Who knows what's next... I'd rate my musical taste "experienced" but not "pro"

Well, I'm kind of a fan of easy-listening jazz and soft rock, so I guess that makes my musical tastes pretty sophisticated, huh? I mean, I went and saw Stomp and have even seen the Blue Man Group in concert, so I can appreciate a lot of different styles, but what really floats my boat is relaxing to Andrew Lloyd Weber's Cats, played endlessly on the weekends. I blast it so loud it can be heard by all my neighbors.

"Jellicle songs for jellicle cats, jellicle songs for jellicle cats..." WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

My children have been eating their own hair... Funny, huh?

That made me look up Dr. Alban videos on Youtube. Well done.

Probably not.

See, that's what I call good taste. Dr. Alban pwns todays commercial dance music (like that atrocious Lady Gaga, or other Top40 crap) so hard, it's just laughable.

I saw them a quite a few years back in Melbourne. Absolutely brilliant! Definitely one of the most inventive/creative percussion groups I've ever witnessed. I always rave about that concert.

There are always guilty pleasures I consider as "bad" even when listening to them but I usually mainly like them because they're too dumb for me to hate.

Other than that, I've always been pretty selective in the music I listen to. One could even call it being somewhat of a musical snob, I guess. I cannot really recall anything I would had listened to in the past that I'd now consider "bad".

listening to foo fighters doesn't make u a musical snob, buddy.

being younger, I'm surrounded by people who listen to...well, pretty shallow music. that's not exclusive to my age group because there are a lot of older people who have less than stellar taste but it is prevalent among my peers given the lack of experience and listening history.

I give in sometimes and there are few tracks I start to like (and almost certainly get sick of after the novelty has worn off) but in the end and when I'm alone I listen to a lot more eclectic stuff. I hate to come off as pompous because I know there are many who are far more serious about music and dig much deeper, but when I pit my tastes against those around me (and as biased as I may be) there's no comparison.

I crave my own stuff when I'm with my friends or girlfriend, or the usual social event. the kind of music they like does nothing for me in a club. the radio especially annoys me to no end. I'm lucky if I hear 5 songs I like from an entire day of listening. I do consider my taste to be more refined and with that said I require something more subtle and deeper. something that'll envoke real emotion in me. I'm very picky with that.... no matter what it is I can't fake emotion.

Do I have good taste in music? I don't know. I'd say I have an above average taste. As much as it is subjective there's also a standard. It's hard to make sense of it all and I think thats the great thing about it. we'll always give us something to talk about. not necessarily to pit our tastes against each others but rather ponder what makes up good music in general.

Posted by Tranc3 on Apr-27-2009 07:28:

I'd say there's about a 68% chance that I have average taste.
