Listening to this now, first day back at work! It started off a little techy and not quite dubby enough but at the 20 minute mark I have stumbled upon some really good deep stuff 31 minutes is pretty sick, I'm digging the trippiness. Tempo change at 34 minutes, nice change of pace. New breaks coming in at 38 minutes, I liiiike 51 minutes is pretty cool too. Really grooving at around 58-59 minutes, what transition is this? I'm enjoying this track at 60 minutes quite a bit, it's fucking awesome. Lazer noise at 67 minutes Finishing off with some wobble stuff and some cool breaks, fantastic ambience in this last track.

I'm not sure if it's just my headphones but there seems to be a bit of crackling in the background early on in the set. It got a little annoying after a while but didn't bother me so much that I couldn't enjoy the juicy dubbicity of the set. Overall I thought there was good progression, great transitions, and chock full of tasty dubstep/breaks. How did you manage to keep this thing under 80 minutes?

Glad you were diggin' it. It might take me a while to give you a detailed response about the one transition, but I will try to once I am at a computer and not posting from my phone.

As far as that distortion noise in the beginning, I hadn't really noticed it. Maybe a cable was loose or Audacity was fucked, oh well.

Thanks for checking it. I still need to load your mixes onto mah iiipod, zippy.

OK, so I finally gave this one a spin. I have never listened to Dubstep before besides from the occasional sample in Beatport. This was really nice Adam, not at all what I expected, in a good way. It was very relaxing, specially for driving home last night and to work this morning. I don't think I would ever buy any of these tracks or listen to them by themselves, but in the whole context of the mix you created they work great (don't know if that made any sense, lol).

Now I'll give a listen to the other mix you suggested sometime this week.

Thanks for checking it out. If you liked the deeper vibe more than the wonkier stuff that gets cained more often then I would just skip Tethered and get Dublanta 2.

Dubstep sounds more natural to me when it's deeper and doesn't have as much wonk to it, if that makes any sense at all. Though Tethered isn't overly wonky.

Anyways, I need to get your latest mix. I've been slacking in that department just because I've been lost in finding new shit that I want to play. I'll have to nab it tonight and listen to it tomorrow methinks.

Thanks man

I really don't know what to expect at all from "Tethered", which is nice. I think I'll check out both that one and Dubtlanta 2 soon

lol, it feels so weird that I'm the one bringing you into dubstep and I'm some weebo punter from hillbillyass Georgia

To me, there's a few kinds of dubstep (and I'm really not that well-versed even if I dig for shit all the time, I don't really like the people ensconced in the subculture, I just play the tunes):

wonkstep -

the techier stuff, can sometimes have a good melody or structure, but for the most part is very bassline heavy with grating noises. It's good to mix in sometimes, and can be fun in small doses. Kinda like the anthems in trance.

tardstep -

balls to the wall noise and basslines. WONKY as fuck. It can be very cheesy and very try-hard sounding. It's as if burberry chavs tried Andrea Yates-ing Cascada and then grinded her body up with a shopvac. It tries to SOUND NOTHING LIKE HOUSE OR TECHNO BECAUSE THEY SUCK LOUDLOUDLOUD

deepstep -

more along the lines of what I like to play. Rather housey and techno-ey in some parts as far as melody, but variant structure and good, throbbing, dynamic basslines as opposed to the 4-on-the-floor fistfuck everyone's used to.

Burial -

see Burial albums

Every true dubstep aficionado probably thinks I'm a retard, and there's probably many subgenres that fagbags and cuntflaps like to quibble over, but I cba.

But Tethered is more wonkstep than tardstep, although it borders at times imo

Happy trails!

Thanks man, I definitely need to check out at least a bit of the different styles to see what I like the most but I feel it's going to be the "deepstep" kind.

You're definitely right when you say that it sounds like Deep House or Dub Techno but with an unusual structure and metric. Nice stuff.

Listened to this for the first time today at work, very impressed, just the sort of Dubstep I like, not the big abrassive in your face stuff. I need to get more tracks and mixes like this.

Very well put together, definately a keeper. Good effort.

Thanks for checking it out

This is my type of dubstep too. Some of the abrasive stuff goes a verrrry long way in a short amount of time. I can't handle it generally for more than an hour. Deeper dubstep though, omnomnomnom, GIMME

oh, and if you want moar, I'm happily here to whore, latest Dublanta:
