In 1994 yes, obvious, but I was talking before that. And I didn't mention Haddaway, neither Twenty4Seven or 2Unlimited.
I meant that if I had heard trance before 1994 I probably would have loved it.

Both Cappella and Culture Beat made tracks which were much closer to Trance then others, at least the instrumental part. Not that they should be called trance, but there were tracks which tended towards what would be called trance later, or at least explain the love for trance later.

1998 Culture Beat - Pay no mind (DJ Taucher Remix) or (Aboria GC Remix) at the Maxi-single.

Hmm.. Viva influenced me a lot, but what exactly made me fall for trance is a hard one. Listening to a lot of old (happy) rave stuff and eurodance sort of pushed me into trance.

After listening to stuff like this, I remember wanting to hear more melodies and progression.

So basically I can't remember what trance tracks hit me at the time, I just remember what made me look for them.

edit: Jam & Spoon was probably my first, come to think of it.

They were easy to access with their commercial hits, and we all know that Marc did a lot more than just kse back then.

I started out with early Scooter stuff. However, the track that really got me pursuing trance after hearing it in Ferry Corsten's Trance Energy set was:

Ron Hagen & Pascal M - On Stream

Looks like you too have some difficulty to point a single track. Like I tried to explain before, between all acid house, eurodance, rave and techno stuff there probably were some close to trance tracks.

Jam & Spoon would be around 1992 for me:

My first fantastic ff ------>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2DfGVDHuro

Stella ------>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZpkhpfecwg

I mentioned Cappella and Culture Beat.

Cappella - Everybody (1990/1991), AMAZING SOUND BACK THEN also great guitar sample @3:07

These two also had huge influence on me I guess:

Quazar - Last Train To Paradise (1992) ------>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhPpN-VdUTY

EQ LAZER - The Heartbreak (1991) ------>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqpafIvyKzg

I bet some people over here will like this one too:

Quazar - The Seven Stars ------>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRft6vkJ9yM

Hmmm, much more vocals back then then I can remember....

Also I should mention Enigma - Sadness 1990 I think.

I heard the below track when I was only 6. The track came out in 1988, but I heard it a year later from my dad, and I was captivated forever since ...

I can find trancy-like disco tunes (italo-disco) from even before that! But Georgio Moroder rocks. No doubt about it.

Posted by Hrvoje on May-06-2009 15:47:

first trance nation series,and trance master too.

Posted by Fractureduk on May-06-2009 16:49:

Hmm tough one, probably something typical like Encore un Fois, and then went looking around on the net for more trance, randomly bumped into aphex twin and got given a copy of ejay and ignorantly thought they all used it aswell and things went from there... lol

I was waiting for some synthesizer hits

I loved Jean-Michel Jarre - Fourth Rendez-Vous 1986

Those were the good 'ol days! To the fans of Giorgio and Jarre, perhaps you may like these rarities:

This "trance" track is all the way from 1977. Thats a year before that Moroder track!
The Droids - The Force / 1977

Also, one of my disco favourites of similar style:

Black Devil - Follow Me (Instrumental) 1978
Waaaaay better than any Moroder stuff, but shockingly noone put it up on YouTube yet. But its highly wantlisted on Discogs. Beautiful disco track that was 2 decades ahead of its time.

EDIT: I remembered this one!

Leda - Endless Race (1978)
