Roland JD-800. The best synth ever for me. It lacks dynamics, low end, a decent pair of DA converters, is only 32khz, and... it sounds amazing, after 18 years.

The Jd-800 is great machine especially for pads.
As far as hardware synths go the the definitive synthesizer in my opinion is the Jupiter 4.
Not the 8 or the 6 the 4. The fattest one ever.

This thing is never perfectly in tune. Ever.
This is what gives it this massive sound.
The sound characteristics of this particular synth were what roland modeled their successful jp-8000 after which itself became a success a decade later due to its supersaw osc.

I don't own it because it is very hard to find and very expensive.
When I do have the money it is never available for sale and when it is available I never have the money to buy it.

Why can't these programming idiots shelve out 300 bucks for a professionally designed (and thought out) GUI when making commercial products?

And before you reply with how I am wrong and how great zebra's GUI is take a look at what a good GUI really looks like;
- Sylenth1 (may be ugly, but I can see EXACTLY what's happening with the sound on one page and it's not remotely cluttered)
- Vanguard (same)
- Omnisphere (for a synth that allows you to do pretty much anything it sure doesn't look complicated)

Zebra's UI looks like it was done in synth edit by a 12 year old. I mean, look at this: http://static.kvraudio.com/i/b/zebra2.jpg What year is it? 93?

I use mainly outboard equipment but from the softsynths i have tried. Omisphere, Virus (powercore) and Zebra 2 are definately my favorites.

Gotta admit, you don't have to underestimate the 3xOSC with a good load of FX

Although my fav list of softsynths is z3ta+, V-Station, Synth1, Pro53, Hypersonic 2, FM7, Sylenth...

Seems like I need to try out Zebra 2 sometime.
