wowowowowow!!!

amazing is right!!
"stairway to heaven" was incredible and the Thriller mashup just about made me lost my shit.

Some of the music he was playing was simply phenomenal. You know I was trying to explain to Lauren that hearing a Tenaglia set with no other rooms to distract you is a fantastic social experience as well as musical.

with the good reviews of freedom, sounds like this was a good night in toronto.

now im bored

He missed his departing flight. He was supposed to fly out at 9am today, but he decided to keep playing at CiRCA.

I stayed for his whole set and went down to Danny T afterward. Carter was on his game, I would have considered that worth the $25 just by itself. He played a remix of some super-popular old-school vocal track, without the vocals, and now I'm driving myself crazy trying to remember what it was, lol. Oh well.

Great night all around, really.

OUTSTANDING!

how ridiculous was that stairway to heaven was a nice surprise too.

Tenaglia is truly a master of working a room over the course of a long night. lost in his set, I looked at my phone at one point and it was 'suddenly' 7:15am. wtf. He nails you to the dancefloor and won't let you leave

Honey Dijon on Sat, then Carter + Tenaglia marathon. I feel a little spoiled in this city sometimes.

funny mark i was just thinking that. we got there at midnight and the night sorta just progressed slowly till Danny got on. However from the moment he got on, time sorta went out of sorts. One minute it was still dark outside on the patio and the next trip out the sun was shining bright with the party going strong inside.

He really does captivate the listener very well.

Some phenomenal tunes and layering of tracks last night. I had the hugest grin on my face when he dropped "I'll be your friend/Elements". Nothing quite says Danny T to me like that one. Awesome tunes but have to say that it wasn't the most dancing-friendly set for me... still I guess I can't complain seeing I stayed til 11.

Thanks for the i.d. RJ!

And a special round of applause to those of you who I saw both last night and today at Cherry Beach.

Carter was amazing. Had a great set and loved every minute of it. I actually thought about going home after his set since I was so satisfied and content (well tired from the previous two days). Decided to stay and Danny was good (there were a couple Danny moments - Thriller, Stairway to Heaven) but not as good as last year. I always love the crowd Danny brings out...hopefully there is another Danny night next year.

Danny Tenaglias mashup of his Be Yourself (Celedas 1998 classic) mixed with Michael Jacksons Thriller from WMC'09 (Shelbourne Hotel).

Danny played this exact same mash-up last night. This is the best audio-quality video I was able to find.

He played that? Fucking gold.

I've had the original vinyl in my bag for almost ten years and never had the balls to try something with it live; damn Zeppelin tracks don't keep the same speed for very long and you really, really, really have to work the fader hard to use it as a layer. How'd he play this? Remix? Layer? Just by itself? What time? Someone tell more!!!

Matt, if you look a bit earlier in the thread you can see a video. it does seem like he played it as a layer because the underneath beat kept coming back when you could almost not hear the stairway to heaven.

lol. that's weird you say that because i can't imagine it happening anywhere else other than circa.

everyone said that they felt like they were at sonic at 9 a.m.

Posted by Jayx1 on May-19-2009 16:33:

Carter owned and i was there right till the end of his set.

agreed. i must've had at least 5 randoms say that to me in the morning. it was an amazing vibe. i was only there until 7:45. i can imagine how much more "sonic" like it must've gotten after that.

Posted by torontobarfly on May-19-2009 22:42:

got there around 12:30, the entire club was pretty full by then

stayed upstairs for most of carters set then wandered down for danny

good party, good fun, nice seeing some old friends...nice mix of people...great vibe

left at 8am, the bottom floor was still pretty full

time to recover

This is a Danny T standard. I've heard him play it before. Track ID pls (flashback: I think the female vocal is something like "this is the tribal dance").
