This isn't Hip-Hop. That being said, it's utter shit.

It's some fucking aberration derived from Hip-Hop but it sure as hell isn't Hip-Hop

Has anyone listened to Eminem's new album? Just a forewarning, it fucking sucks. It's terrible. He tries to play off some kind of fucking jamaican accent during damn near every track. His actual content isn't even that good either, he raps about getting anally raped by his stepfather in the 4th track, and bitches and moans about his addiction to Vicodin on the rest of the tracks. Even the cameos from Dr. Dre and 50 Cent suck balls. The only good track is the last one, Underground, and that's only because he goes back to his original Marshall Mathers style and has good flow and a good beat. Even then it's still not that good. Anyone else listened?

I'm 21, not exactly old. I liked a lot of rap for the past couple of years, but recently there is no imagination, nothing different than what I've already heard before. Rap sucks this year, and will continue to suck unless someone breaks the mold.

Hip Hop and trance have so much in common

Posted by ziptnf on May-19-2009 20:02:

I was fucking 11 in 1999, are you retarded? Just because I don't like Souja Boy or Rick Ross or Gucci Mane or any of those other tards in 2009 doesn't mean that I don't respect the hip hop game or what they do. Sorry I ruined your Eminem/Soulja Boy fetish party.

Meanwhile, why don't you tell us what kind of music you like, alt?

this is essentially the same thing. "ZOMG HIP HOP IS SHITTY NOW. WHAT HAPPENED? SOULJA BOY RUINED IT"

give it a rest, god damn. Listen to some biggie or a tribe called quest and shut the fuck up.

I listen to everything. Even country, even gregorian chant. I'm not a ****** fan boy nor do I think music is anything special. It's something to listen and dance to.

also, lol @ alt. You are a newbie, huh?

Posted by ziptnf on May-19-2009 20:11:

I guess I am, I don't recognize your screen name. Not cool enough lol

Anyways, sure Biggie or Tribe Called Quest or Wu Tang Clan or any of those guys are great and all, but after a while all their stuff gets boring listening to a billion times over. You can't hang on classics for the rest of your life if you enjoy the genre, sometimes hip hop fans want to hear new stuff that is good being produced, and the likes of Soulja Boy and Eminem aren't exactly doing it. That was my point.

I just feel sorry for soulja boy and anyone else who likes/follows this music, for they don't realize how much they suck.

I guess it's time for you to show them who's boss and release your own rap album.

Posted by ziptnf on May-19-2009 20:17:

I should, I'll be kinda like this guy, except not as good.

An amazing observation that I've never realized.

i just had this discussion earlier in the week.

now bare with me because this is a stretch. but doesn't it seem like hip-hop/pop/rap (whatever you want to call this) is slowly sliding into the direction of electronic music with focus on production and not so much on the lyrics. the lyrics are basically just another layer and are repetitive as all hell.

i've even seen club DJs loop a popular track (even this Soulja Boy) without the lyrics and play it for an entire minute without anyone noticing.

now granted the production value of hip hop is not appealing to me or very many people who listen to EDM. but i think the average club goer are slowly being co-axed by labels and DJs to like this type of stuff.

also - at the 30 second mark - you'd figure the nigga could afford a decent toothbrush.

Posted by Konijn on May-19-2009 23:14:

his 'swag' needs more monocle, tophat, and moneybin full of doubloons.

Posted by Ted Promo on May-19-2009 23:25:

This isn't hiphop.

And no, current hiphop isn't shit either.

Posted by Krypton on May-19-2009 23:42:

Isn't it "southern rap" the rap where catchy production takes priority over lyrics. That's how we get the "stanky leg" and "ice cream paint job"...

ya i listened to it. first listen i thought it was utter garbage. second listen i began to like 2 songs. and now I kind of like it. About 6 of the songs are garbage but the rest are okay. The bonus tracks are pretty tight too and i think they were better then any song on the album i dont know hwy they didnt make the cut. other then 7 songs being completely shit, i thought the rest of the album was put together well. It followed a theme, it was made to sound like the frist half he was on full blown drugs going out of his mind, killing and raping people, then around midway he OD's, the last half of the album was about coming to terms with the fact he is addicted, and then a self healing tune, until the last song he completely relapses. I think it was smart. He's supposedly putting out a second album in the summer called relapse II so it may be a continuation of his relapse where hes crazy hard like the last song.

If you dont feel like listening to the whole album, I suggest listening to these few songs

3 am
stay wide awake
must be the ganja
deja vu

the best 4 song son the album and if your only listening to the album for its individual songs then these four are probably the best. Btw production is amazing on this album give dre his props

There hasnt been much great hip hop for 2009, I enjoyed the last classified cd, and am waiting for the new royce album along with a rumored album from cage

Posted by wing on May-20-2009 00:17:
