I'm at a loss as to why you'd want to play this shitty version on dancefloors when you could play one of the earlier and much better mixes instead, specifically the Cygnus X Mix.

Haha, this thread is hilarious to me.
I like the song.
But to say that you like the Corsten mix but Durands mix is awful despite both being pretty similar is a bit contraditory.
Fair enough you despise the lack of effort in the amount of time to make the track.
It does the job on the dancefloor, thats all that really counts these days. Keeps some of the 'trance was only good pre 1999' happy, and the new comers happy as well.

I agree. Never understood the hype of the Corsten remix. Even Transa's remix is a copy of Cygnus-X's remix.

The original wasn't even all that good to begin with BEFORE that abomination of a stab-riff was introduced. This rework is just another dry and bland rehash of the Ferry Corsten remix. Then again, iirc, bland and dry rehashes of obvious tunes is exactly what Durand's whole claim to fame consists of in the first place.
Nothing new under the sun, in other words.

the recent retrospective released should show everyone that whilst fun, AoT have done better than madagascar, Octopus, Blue Owl, Emerald Eyes & my favourite kaleidoscope (inc the sunday club remix) are great to listen to.
Ferrys remix of madagascar works if you stop thinking of it as something special. It's short so not too annoying and Transa's remix is also good, but that was 10 years ago. If people nowadays can't come up with anything new to establish themselves as producers, it's hardly the fault of those who remixed it before the whole re-re-rehash shit started.
