Originally posted by Calamar PVD's got a tough act to follow. Hell, as far as I'm concerned, any DJ who ever performs in Atlanta is in trouble, as ATB's set a new and absurdly high standard for DJ performance. Many of the tunes he played were familiar, but mixed or mashed up in a unique way that breathed new life into them. And his physical performance and connection with the crowd put most other trance DJs to shame: rarely were we subjected to the typical head-bob and clapping we might get from Tiesto or PVD, but instead ATB kept moving to the music and interacting with the audience from the start to finish (though he did slow down briefly about 3/4 of the way through?). In terms of serving an animated performance, he might even beat Above & Beyond's Paavo, which is pretty damn good. Dude played the hell out of that air-piano and air-snare. I sadly failed to find and enjoy Sam's friend and her girls as directed, but it was an incredible night regardless. ... Okay, uh, time to head to work. Thankfully I'm still alert (and shaking) thanks to all the Red Bull consumed last night and this morning. |
By the way, Mike's opening set was really good. He should open all the time.
Him or Ian James anyways!

Oh ya, I definitely heard
Pryda - Pjanoo
Definitely a killer track
Now that you said something I remember that track too. All in all a great night. This year has gone off with a bang. Not one show I have been disappointed with. Thanks Liquified for all the great shows.

I have to be honest, I didn't love ATB. This is the first time I ever seen him play and I thought he was okay. I thought his mixing was good, and his interaction with the crowd was great, but his tracklist didn't do much for me. I am hoping PVD brings it Wed. night.
However, it was a good time and I'm glad everyone who attended really seemed to enjoy his set...
See you Wednesday...

And I'll agree with clearblu -- thanks, Liquified, for the awesome year so far. Devin's gotta enjoy the work, as I think I spotted him rocking out on the stage at the end. Zack, I think I saw you as well, on the left along the stage? Unfortunately I couldn't head over to greet you, as I was stuck on the (very crowded) right side of the stage. That place was packed, and I'm glad I had a little more space toward the end. Then again, my shirt was so drenched with sweat that most people gave me a fair amount of dancing space throughout the show. |
i wish i would have been able to catch this, ATB is one of the few dj's that i would really love to see but haven't.
