-- Before trance?

I used to always listen to the radio which was set at one of those top 40 stations. But even then (age 10), my favourite song was Capitol Sound - In the Night, which was more in the dance category. In a few years, the radio was playing Robert Miles - Children. Then I heard Ian van Dahl - Castles in the Sky. So I started searching the net for info on electronic music, came across this site, and have been hooked ever since.
Ever since I was a B-boy in 1983 when I was 8, I liked the breakdance sound that became rap. In 1988, I started recording Nintendo music tracks from Mega Man and Ikari Warriors II and Castlevania, etc etc. I always liked electronic music with a fast pace and without vocals and contined with the Genesis (Megadrive) and SNES. When I heard Wipeout I & II I went apeshit, especially the one with Xpander.
I also listen to reggae but not as much nowadays. The love of rap all but left me around 1998.
my first cdplayer was given on my 10th birthday. And my parents gave me the album from 2 Unlimited (former dutch houseduo) as my first cd. at that moment I started to listen to those tunes and did that again and again, so I just know al the lyrics from the tunes
:P
from that moment my interests went slowly into the trance
(sorry for bad english
)
I never was really into music, until cable tv arrived here at my place and it had MTV. My first fave tune was Cher - Believe
at the time I liked anything MTV played
then I did some birthday party and my uncle brought two cd's for the party: world of trance vol.8 and some house mixed cd Kremlin who had pvd - for an angel and binary finary - 98 that were my two fav tunes
but I only got hooked from early 2001 when I started to download some Mauro Picotto tracks from his trance album.. you know the rest of the story.
My mom listened to dance in the car though so I've been listening to dance since the 1990's
I have always been into electronic music. Before listening to trance, I spent my hours listening to synthesizer music from like Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis. Nowadays I rarely put on a cd like this, but I still like it.
Get a load of this dinosaur track if you can find it - pre-dates trance by a long shot, and it's really cool for its time.
Trans X - Vivre Sur Video
i didnt really like any particular music when I was really young... but in the early 90's I liked euro-dance! yeah, I dont mind it still. Then from there I liked some more crazy techno type stuff, like the early Daft Punk tracks (their homework CD) and Josh Wink!! .. then I started liking dance.. commercial trance.. and then made my way to the underground
When I was bout 13 i got my first keyboard and I wanted to write songs without vocals and based on the music alone. I knew there was music like this about but did'nt know anything about it. Later on my brother was into to hardcore and I really got into that. Then 1 day I heard Sash Equador and I knew thats what I wanted more of. Soon after I heared tracks like Sash Encore une fois / Dj quicksilver Free I really liked this but still did not know alot about it. Soon after that my freind was listening 2 Ayla Ayla veracocha remix. From this I brought a few compiclation cds with tracks like Veracocha,Gouryella ect.At last I had found what I had been looking 4.
startet to listen to eurodance in 95 or something.. I remember those crazy compilations, Mega Dance XXXX and Thunderdome.
This whole new world of electronic music opened to me with the beginning of the jungle era. Some friends and I where "browsing" through the stuff of a brother us.
Saw the tape, played it and almost instanly my soul was sold!
Gradually I walked the road meeting Techno, Hardcore, Dance, Club and Trance (going softer). Now I mostly listen to Progressive.
But I still have a weakness for the stronger stuff; That's what got me addicted in the first place
A friends brother had made a GOA tape for me way back around 1994. Found it interesting, soothing and really kickass to listen too.
Eventually lead to eurodance and lastly pure trance
heh, i remember when my mate told me 2 years ago that he listened to trance, i was like "trance? that's Sven Vath and Cosmic Baby, eh?" i didn't even know who Oakenfold was
For me Hardcore was what got me into Dance music.. kinda round 1991/92 time.
All you in the UK that know of Sterns nightclub on the south coast near worthing raise your hands and whistle possie!! WOOT! hehe
Ahem..... am I showing m age??? hehe
the first electronica song that i ever heard was "fatboy slim - going out of my head". i heard it once on the radio while taking the bus to school in 6th grade and i was like WOH. at the time i didnt know the name or who it was by or what type of music and it wasnt till like 6 mounths later that i even heard it again. but after hearing it the socond time it was almost always stuck in my head. and then fatboyslim came out with youve come along way baby, and i was hooked on techno but i didnt know of anything else so i only listened to fatboy slim for like 3 years. then A FRIEND introduced me to trance and ive been hooked ever since. befor i started listening to trance i had this weird impresion that you had be triping on acid to enjoy it, and that it was just a base kick. i was so wrong...
in my more youthful and vibrant days, I had a love for hip hop and rnb, however, I'd always taken an interest in electronica/dance music. At a club, I'd always prefered being in the techo room. though then it was purely due to the preference of a more up beat dance, even with commercialised techno tunes, i still listened and danced away with a passion. however, unfortunately for me, I never allowed this passion to grow. I still remember grabbing a truckload of mp3s from a friend, and bumping into such tracks as Robert Miles - "Children", "Fable" and "One & One" and Sash's Ecuador and thinking 'god.. what pure bliss'.
It's only been for the recent 7, 8 or 9 months in which I've indulged in this genre of trance, this art, and this religion to some. and it truly transcends you into another world.. However, it's not to say that I won't stop listening to the other likes of music. I still listen to rnb, hip hop, rock, and hell, even oldies. atm I'm also exploring the outskirts of proggy house and a lil jungle. =p
It's not to say one genre is better than the other. it is about personal taste, but a love for all is and will remain to be the true "musical experience".
I've always been interested in music. As a 4/5 year old I was obsessed with the Grease soundtrack. Since then I have progressed to pop like Tina Arena, and then stuff like Garbage, Silverchair and The Living End. I had pretty broad musical tastes, but i do remember liking Fatboy Slim and Sash. When I was around 12/13 I had problems sleeping at night, so I would listen to those commercial dance shows on the radio. It was mainly hi-nrg, hardhouse and eurodance kind of stuff, and for some weird reason it helped me sleep. Anyway, this became my favourite type of music, until I heard Children by Robert Miles. I was immediately blown away by it. I didn't search for any more trance until, maybe, 18 months ago. Since then I've become obsessed.
Now I'm addicted, much to the dismay of my family and some friends. One of my friends thought "trance" was some guy because I'm always talking about it...
ah dear...
Well I've been listening to Trance for about nearly 3 years now. Before that I listened to just about everything else....pop, rock, mainstream stuff...and yes early 90s Eurodance as well lol...the first few tracks I heard which got me addicted to Trance was ATB's "9pm Till I come" and Robert Miles' "Children" and BT'S amazing "Flaming June" (IMO one of the best trance tracks produced..its an absolute classic
). The rest as they say was history...
I got interested in techno music after listening to the Mortal Kombat sound track lol. some of the songs on there were ambient or goa. i couldn't find other cds like it until i started to listening to trance, at least 8 years later. oh but i do remeber loving the song "take on me" since i was very young about 6 or 7? forgot the artist...
i've never been that obsessed with music until now. i used to listen to robert miles every now and often when i was 11-12. but what kinda started my "career" in trance was scooter's age of love and fire. after that i moved on to eurodance stuff like those cheesy Dreamdance compilations and only at the age of 16 i found out the meaning of REAL trance and in my search for more trance mp3s i found ta.com

there was that 80's electopop
