lol.

just watch porn on the internet. you don't need to steal channels.

Stop stealing, it's bad for your karma.
Plus, you can download all that shit on the internets, bro
Also, if you're desperate for local TV, install OTA antenna and enjoy more than 20 HD channels for free with uncompressed quality.

Actually, really, I want the movies and channels for my mom, she watches most TV, but I need some TV when I get home from work at night, ever since that digital switch over i get nothing! Been watching my old DVD collection over and over while i'm on the puter lol...

Downlaoding all the shows is feasable for me, but can't be arsed to teach my mom how to do that, she just wants to be able to sit down in the evening and watch tv without effort, and on the weekends she likes to watch movies.

how much is that NFUSION box?

Posted by chinamon on Aug-20-2009 23:32:

you might be able to find all the shows online but nothing beats having all the different selection at your fingertips.

as for OTA, you only get the main channels in HD. you wont get history hd, discovery hd, tlc hd, nat geo hd, ppv hd, etc. those are gold.

October, It's Fall... time is going to change soon, it's getting cold out... series premiers have started...

I need my FTA!

Where do we stand?

Posted by tvmann on Oct-02-2009 06:42:

There is "true FTA" that gets you a bunch of unencrypted channels with a regular FTA box (legal status uncertain). Only 1 or 2 useful English language channels per satellite, so you need to frequently re-point the dish or get a motor drive ($80) to get more chans. Also you need a bigger dish (another $70-$80) - 30 to 36 inches with linear LNB. Probably the best you can get is PBS, Research Channel, History Channel (USA) but there are supposed to be USA network feeds that often show up for a period of time. A small number of channels are HD (PBS...).

There might be a new Canadian satellite TV company starting in 2011 that will provide free basic network channels in HD, but users must pay for extra channels. Makes sense to me, CBC especially should be free since we pay for it by income tax. Apparently ExpressVu and StarChoice might do something similar in response.

you can already get free fta channels in north america but its best if you have a motor on the dish. as far as free basic hd channels go you can already get those with an ota antenna.

lol dont worry. i dont believe in it either.

Posted by Mach X on Dec-29-2009 07:22:

Honestly, it's not that I even have a big problem paying...

Considering that after all is said and done, you're paying $300-500 upfront if you're getting a new reciever and shit... it works out to be ~$40 a month anyways for a year.

So suscribing isn't really that much more, I just prefer the selection and channels of US tv better than what our Canadian providers have. (Not to mention, free movies are pretty sweet!)

Don't get me wrong, free is wondeful... however I am willing to pay too, just want to get the most for my $$$

Posted by tvmann on Dec-29-2009 07:46:

Yep 1200 channels - the only way to watch TV!

Posted by Mach X on Dec-29-2009 08:08:

What do you all reckon for this?

i have the sv-8000 (version 2) with ihub. the ihub didnt last very long cuz it just crapped out on me one day. wont even power on now.. cheap piece of shit.

edit: also i forgot to mention that you will need the 8psk module if you want dishnet hd. pretty much all dishnet hd channels are 8psk modulated (if not all of them by now). maybe sure you get the v2 of the module cuz the v2 has a tendency to overheat.
