I used various distributions of Linux for about a year and reverted back to Windows XP. There's just something I like about point+click+download+execute which beats going to console and wget//dadadadadada1.2.3.4.5.-n/-g. I'm sure its very secure for this reason alone (point+click blatantvirustrojan.exe as opposed to whatever laborious tasks linux made me do), but like I tell everyone over the age of 40, "the best anti-virus is your brain."
In terms of speed and all that junk, I don't know and I don't think I've ever come to care. 3D applications (Battlefield 2, Source SDK, TF2, whatever) ran pretty much the same(although BF2 ran WAY WAY faster, i'll give you that), except that it was a bitch to try and tweak my whole system to work. Took me 3 days to get 3D acceleration to work, and I don't believe I ever got my soundcard working and ended up switching to the onboard chip.
Of course, this was 3 years ago and I'm sure it's just as laboriously secure and mundanely innovative as ever.

They all have their place and people have their preference. That is all that matters in the end. To each their own. If it makes you happy, then so be it.

None of the 3 OSes mentioned are technically better than the other. All can do the same things equally well. One may have executed an interface better, but they all do the same things.

Yeah, as a few people know, I have been an avid Mac hater. Not so much the machines though as of late, as the people that seem to profess to me as if they are some god damn deity. As if they are infallible. Something of which I know they are not.

Well, I've been nothing but satisfied with my experience so far. Although I'm very adaptable and very capable with computers so I don't get into rage mode when you can only resize windows in the lower right corner, etc.

Meh, I can get used to all that stuff. Just as you are adaptable, so am I. That isn't an issue really.

Ahh yeah. I still hate Apple's ethos though. Oh well. We will see. I may or may not get it. Cost is a huge factor right now.

i prefer the interface and usability of MacOSX by far.

it's the tiny details that get me - like the status bar that loads underneath the icon in the dock when i'm opening/saving a large file in Photoshop.

That doesn't really make any sense.

On my Dell laptop, I use my middle finger to track and my thumb to left or right-click.

On my Macbook Pro, I use my middle finger to track and to left-click because the whole thing is a button. Add the index finger to right-click.
